  1. Sheesh... that actually looks like a mess.

One thing's for sure: something's wrong with your "assets0.pk3". Make sure you didn't accidentally put an "O" instead of a zero at the end of it. That's a common mistake. Otherwise, try to open/extract it. Is it corrupted?

I don't understand the VM_Create failure on the "uix86.dll". The only time I've encountered that is when I had mismatching libraries from different builds of JKA.

  2. I mean, that's Ashley's normal voice. I don't really mind about it since most women don't change their voice that much after puberty, but how did you picture Ahsoka's old voice in your mind?

I don't know, a lot more mature. But as I said, the writing has a lot to do with it, as well. The way she's responding in conversations -- the experience is just not there. She still seems like her 16-year-old self from a decade ago, and that's just not right. People grow, they change.
  3. That's the voice of a 34 year old woman though.

A voice actress, who plays teenagers, yes. I'm not saying that it's impossible for an adult Ahsoka to sound like that. It's just that that's what she sounded like as a teenager already in The Clone Wars. You would think that her voice would mature by the time she is twenty-something.

To me, for an adult Ahsoka, she just sounds way too young to be taken seriously. Don't take me wrong, I love Ashley's work, but her vocal performance just does not suit an adult Ahsoka at all in my honest opinion.

They've changed everything else about Ahsoka, but they kept her voice. The decision was just a cheap commercial/executive choice. Not much thought was given to it. They figured that if her voice sounds the same, and she looks somewhat like the original Ahsoka, most people will go for it -- and I guess they were right.

But that doesn't mean I have to like it. As a dedicated fan, I still think it was a cheap and horrible choice. They could have done so much better if they had actually put some effort into it, and focused on quality in storytelling instead of being entirely focused on marketing the show.

  4. I really wanna see this through and get this done. Whatever obstacle lies ahead..

That's good, but be patient. James is very busy, I'm sure, and he'll need to dig up the old files (if he's willing to share).

Regardless of whether he is willing to share the source or not, if he approves of this project, I think we should attempt it regardless -- even if only with ent modding and scripting at our disposal.

  5. So it happens with all builds? Could it be a strange permission issue in Windows with accessing the files? Have you tried running the game as admin? Alternatively, you could re-install both the game and OpenJK, and see if that fixes it.

  6. To hear you say that is inspirational, @@Seven. Thank you. You are absolutely right. It's just a matter of how many of us are still interested in seeing/creating new content for the old world. But with the old stories standing out so fiercely in quality to the new stuff, I have faith we will still have even new fans joining if we only keep creating new content for the 'classic' world -- or rather, the best of Star Wars.

  7. I'm most definitely obsessed, but after watching Ahsoka's frame-up for the gazillionth time, I am convinced that both Letta Turmond and Barriss Offee were pawns in a bigger game. That by this time Admiral Tarkin was well in the pockets of Darth Sidious, and that the entire, brilliantly sinister ordeal sprung from the mind of Darth Sidious in order to discredit the Jedi, plant a seed of doubt in the public, and in the same swift blow eliminate Anakin's Padawan -- Skywalker's only holding link to the Jedi ways -- and free Anakin's mind up to his dark influence.

  8. Try to always use the files from the build together, and the version of SDL2 (and other libraries) that corresponds to that build (source date). If not, most of the time you will encounter issues as, from my personal experience, they are not exactly backwards compatible.

  9. I'm not aware of outright crashers though.  And its not like SDL 1.x is compatible with SDL2.x.

Exactly why I thought. If he still has a version 1 DLL, that may well be the cause of the crash, right?

    That's all I get...

I take it you've tried dumping the config file, @@minilogoguy18? (Just making sure it's not settings related.)

  10. Not really sure where you got the idea we changed the master server totally O.o  That was never the case.

Not totally, but since the Raven blackout, I had somehow gotten the impression that we've switched to our one as the default master server, and relegated the Raven one to a secondary position. Don't ask... I really don't know where or how I got that idea... >.<'

In that case, in theory at least, by default, OpenJK and the retail 1.01 JKA should both give exactly the same server list at the same time when prompted (and if the connection is steady).

  11. Or Rezzy's (my 14-year-old Jedi Padawan role-playing character's) version of the Jedi Code:

Calm down. Don't let feelings control you. -- (Emotion, yet peace.)

Nobody knows everything. -- (Ignorance, yet knowledge.)

Let go. Don't be obsessed. -- (Passion, yet serenity.)

If you look at it differently, there is balance. -- (Chaos, yet harmony.)

We are made of the Force. -- (Death, yet the Force.)

  12. This doesn't make any sense, an older version of OpenJK works just fine, it's what was used to start the DF2 mod that DT85 compiled. This latest version just crashes for whatever reason.

    An outdated version of SDL?
