  1. I'm not going to use the screen shots. I'm going completely back to the drawing board. Literally. I'm redesigning the entire thing from scratch in a way that lets me do everything I want to do without any guess work later when I'm building it. That also includes changes to the layout. Last time, I tried to lean more towards heavy homage to the academy in SWTOR, and while I'd like to be reminiscent of that aesthetic, it was way to limiting. I still want this thing to be massive, and include all the features I intended, but I'm going to lay it out in a way that makes sense for MY goals with the project.

Good on you for remaking it with your own style thrown in. When I was working on Davik's Estate from KotOR I probably rebuilt it at least 4-5 times. Took me over five years total off and on to get it done.

  2. Is he working on it or something?

    Apparently I've been summoned.  :P

Yeah, I was working on it awhile back but decided against it due to the game engine's limitations. The temple area wouldn't be too bad to create, but the beach terrain would be difficult to recreate in Jedi Academy.

  3. Also, just because it's free doesn't mean they can't do anything about it.

Very true, technically they can have the game removed just because it's their IP even if it was released for free. Other than the space combat portions, all of the footage I've seen of Galaxy in Turmoil looks very much as if it were still in alpha. I'm surprised they'd even bother putting it on Steam so early (as I doubt they can tag this as an early release title) when its so rough yet.

  4. Keep getting a VM_Create on UI failed error when I attempt to launch the JA++ Client. The serverside version works fine though.

Operating System is Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 32-Bit.

I could be wrong, but I believe that error occurs when the EXE isn't set to 'Run as Administrator'.

  5. I'm running Windows 10 Home and haven't had any issues with Jedi Academy. Can't say if the vanilla game works without tweaks as I'm currently running OpenJK. I can also confirm that Radiant 1.4.0 and the compiler work without issues.

  6. What you're asking for as a solution is basically utterly impossible without restructuring the engine in ways that would break backwards mod compatibility.

I have an alternative idea. Add a new field to the worldspawn which controls global water fog color. It wouldn't be good if there's multiple different colors of water, but very few maps would take issue with this.

In theory wouldn't it be possible to have two versions of OpenJK, one with the water left unchanged for backwards mod compatibility and another with a hard-coded change for future mods to use? Although I highly doubt it's worth the extra amount of effort to do that.

If I understand you correctly eezstreet, what you're saying is in the event that someone changed the worldspawn global water fog color to green it would look odd if someone also used blue water within the map (as it would still be green underneath)? As you said that would probably be a very rare issue, in-fact I'm not sure I've ever seen a map with multiple colors of water used at the same time.

What I'd really like to know is if it would be possible to code in lightsabers to work underwater. Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 allowed this and it can be used (in SP) for some unique gameplay elements.

  7. I was sort of thinking the same thing. The teeth aren't going to be THAT noticeable once you get the model in the game, especially with this old of a game engine. I don't even think most of the newer game engines have teeth that are this accurate.  :P

  8. @@Kessno, how's this for now? I'll record a video sometime soon in game.

Thanks @@minilogoguy18, that really looks fantastic! It's amazing how low-poly the vanilla model actually is, especially around the head/joint areas. Will look forward to the video footage of it in action. Once you complete/release this I'll have to do another play-through of Jedi Outcast using this model. Great work so far.
