minilogoguy18
Nice, you have some room to work as far as the likeness since all the characters in TOR had that like, I dunno how to describe other than cartoonish look. Characters in TOR just didn't have a realistic look to them so if you aim for more of a realistic looking Revan his general facial features may match but he'll ultimately come out looking slightly different which is a good thing since a realistic version would look better. I went out to dinner during this one so I missed it again! Oh and since you had Metallica playing, remember that time you made a James Hettfield model? XD Circa likes this Link to comment
Almightygir
hahaha that model was hilarious man. it was part of some crazy low poly challenge and i'd run out of triangles, so i made his fingers flat planes xD Link to comment
Circa
Agreed, more realistic would be much better. Avoid the TOR cartoony look. Link to comment
Tempust85
Awesome work. Btw, which brushes do you use? Link to comment
Almightygir
@@Circa, @@minilogoguy18: yep, going for realism. there's an actor who's likeness i'm going for, It's going pretty well but there's room for improvement. hopefully i'll get there soon, but i need to get the body blocked in so i can retopo the whole thing. @@DT85: pretty much just move, claytubes, dam-standard, and smooth! Tempust85
Ah claytubes, thanks. Also, how do you make hair? I didn't even know Zbrush could do that. Link to comment
Almightygir
like in the first screenshot? that's fibremesh, i haven't really played with it all that much in honesty, i have more powerful tools in 3dsmax. but there are some amazing results coming out of it! check this out: http://yurialexander.com/charactersmain/fibermeshmaya-tutorial/ Tempust85 likes this Link to comment
Pande
Gah.. google+ service so inherintly useful.. but so.. google+.. Damnit. I might actually have to start getting people to use it now Gir that model is quite schweet. Link to comment
Almightygir
Haha, i love google+. a bunch of artists at polycount regularly (daily in fact) hang out together and make art. It's a good way to shrug off caveman syndrome if you're working home alone a lot. Link to comment
Almightygir
will be sculpting in about 30 mins or so: https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/72cpj4279a89klqkjn0g8975f4 Link to comment

AshuraDX
no hands ?or are you oging to recylce the hands from another sculpt you made ? Link to comment
minilogoguy18
I don't like the recycling hands trend that has been stuck in JA for so long. If you really have plans for him to go into JA I'd say do what I do. Import the base hands and only use them for reference. Sculpt/model new ones over top of the base ones to get the pose right since repositioning the fingers can be a bitch sometimes. Since you model over them you can also make them better looking than the JA ones without running into the problem of the fingers not matching up with the bones, mainly it's the thumb that causes the hand to reworking to fit right. I keep missing the hangouts cause I'm stuck at a Honda training center. >_< Link to comment
Almightygir
He'll have his own set of fingers, sculpted the way i want them to be. but it will be easy enough to get them to match the JA bones closely enough that there shouldn't be many issues. Link to comment
Almightygir
calling the head sculpt done, need to make some hair and stuff, but i'll wait for the low poly to do that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Was3FIBbJDE AshuraDX and Bane_Ross like this Link to comment
AshuraDX
Nice !as I just red the description of your third progress vid :do you know this site ? http://anatomy4sculptors.com/ Link to comment
Almightygir
yeah i know it Ashura, it's not too bad. I have a couple of anatomy statues and a bunch of books. this was more of like... because each timelapse was only an hours work, everything was fairly rushed. that's not an excuse to me though... i feel like i should have better "instant" knowledge of anatomy for doing blockouts, rather than having to take time to do an in-depth sculpt each time. so that's what i'm going to work on soon. for now i'll have my hands full with this, as i need to do both a jedi, and sith version. Tempust85
Can't wait to see this finished, looks so cool. Awesome job Gir. Gir + rend2 = win Link to comment
Almightygir
So, these are the only real images of Revan in his Jedi armour. Which leaves whatever he was wearing kind of ambiguous. It would make sense (in my mind) for him to have worn at the very least, similar armour, or a similar setup (greaves, vembraces etc.) to what he did as a sith lord, whether or not it's the same armour i can't really tell. So I'm not entirely sure whether to make two sets of armour or not, I suppose the jedi robe structure would change the way the armour looked enough to make it unique yet recognisable. thoughts? Tempust85
It does look similar to his Sith Lord armor. I'd follow it's design for the chest, while adding a bit of your own as well. Grrrr Vrook.......I enjoyed killing him in KoToR II. Bane_Ross, Jeff and Bek like this Link to comment
Circa
Yeah, It looks more yellowish-gold too, which would help it be more unique as well. I would use the Sith armor as reference, but get little creative with it as well. Will this have that hooded version as well? Link to comment
