Drawing tablet

Greetings everyone!

I am looking for advice from people that have experience in using drawing tablets. I am currently in search for a good tablet.

What would 'I' use a drawing tablet for?

- Writing notes directly into the computer/laptop (not wasting paper)

- Drawing (duh!)

- Drawing sketches for 3D models

- Work (in general)

All advice regarding which tablet I should buy is very much recommended ;)

my gf used to use the bamboo series, and the wacom series currently, and shes a graphic artist

just consider the reviews of a product, and personally Id make sure durability is high on the model you choose, cause of constant friction of the pen, nubs wear out on the pen, and depending on the model some have inter changable nubs for different thickess of strokes, etc.

As far as I have seen, it seems the intuos5 tablets are some of the best you can get atm. When we ignore Cintiq ofc.

So I think the one you've got in mind would work fine :o

Hmm... at the same time, I have been looking at bamboo, which seem more affordable.

Since, I will take the tablet with me to school every day, I am wondering if the small one would be more appropriate...

Since "most" of the time, I will use it to write notes, and all else, for modeling/texture work.

EDIT: However, I am leaning toward the medium sized one - I am wondering if it would be too big to put in the bag with my laptop...

ironcily, when i bought my gf, a replacement pen, it was for the wacom 5, but also worked on the Cintiq

Hey, how much did your girlfriend cost? I'm looking for one, but they're so damn expensive and scream when I try to bargain for the price :(

I've been using a bamboo myself for a few years now with no complaints. Most people won't need one with a drawing size more than 6" inches wide by 4" tall, which is pretty standard and usually runs $80-$100.

Thanks for the input :)

I figured as a newbie, a medium would be appropriative, the small one looked very restrictive, especially considering my computer screen size.

Bamboo is inferior to the Intuos5 - so I am glad I made the right choice. :P

(Not saying bamboob is bad, it's awesome, but not as awesome as Intuos5)

I have a bamboo, but I don't have much money...

That said, I rarely use it... I should really start using it =(

Draw a picture and post it here, I'd like to see the quality from penstrokes. :P

These were both drawn with my bamboo.

wow, really? You're very talented. :)

Can't wait to get mine so I get to practice ^^

I'd love to learn how to draw properly, and having the ability to draw on the "computer" like I do with pen and paper is really going to kickstart my learning.

its not hard to get used to drawing, its just that first of not looking where your hands are is what got me

I've gotten the impression people get used to it, after a few hours or drawing.
