I'm aware of the force changing bug, I believe I mentioned it to Raz about 4-5 months ago. I believe the changing of force powers occurs at the scoreboard when the time limit/frag limit is hit, something is done and the next game has the applied force powers. I'll dig through our logs over the year and find the explanation that was given to me. Will edit/post when found.

Wasn't aware of this, thanks for pointing that out

As the board name suggests, this is for advertisements. Please stop clinging onto absolutely every word people say XD... I realize I'm only encouraging you every time I reply so I'm just going to stop bothering Any way, if any clan is interested in setting up a home on the JAWA server for recruitment then feel free to message me and we'll arrange something
-
... That's what we do o_O Would you guys mind moving this to PMs? This topic wasn't intended to be a discussion....
-
I'm afraid I can't explain it any clearer than I already have sorry. This method gives a more personal meet/greet between JAWA and the other clan, with the potential for more interaction down the road. We've been doing this for 2 years now and it's been a big success in terms of diplomacy. Letting any clan recruit would be ridiculously silly and defeat the entire purpose. This is aimed at newer clans and not meant to be potential for larger clans to come by and advertise, that's why it's moderated as I said in my original post.
-
The idea is to build relations with other clans at the same time, the idea of two clans talking and supporting each other is much more valuable than just coming onto the server, recruiting and leaving.
-
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in and say it's happening to me as well and has for around 4-5 months now.

Over the past 2 years or so, (JAWA) has made an effort to support newer clans wherever possible via recruiting on our server. The reasoning behind this is quite simply because I doubt any one wants to see a "Google" type clan, who has a large amount of the player base in the game and on top of that I'm sure a lot more choice is better for those players looking to join a community. Back in 2004/2005, JAWA was given this offer by an entity known as ClanWarriors and we gained A LOT of members from recruiting on their server.. so we're trying to return the favour to the rest of the community. We've always been a supporter of new clans, whether it be made by current JAWA's branching off or clans completely unaffiliated with us... as long as it benefits the community we're happy. How do I do this? Simply contact me privately or post here with your clans website, the JAWA council will have a very quick discussion and probably get back to you the same day. This doesn't mean any clan can just begin recruiting on JAWA only clans we give permission can. Doesn't this stop potential members from joining JAWA instead? Yes So how does this benefit JAWA? In return we'll improve relations with other clans hopefully, and we'll probably see some improvement in traffic... but our main goal is to be selfless, any advantages to us are an extra and not part of our goal of increasing traffic to other clans. Are there any requirements? Not really, although if you're already an established clan with a decent amount of members you may be turned away as this is for newer clans to get off the ground. We'll let you know privately if this is the case. Hope to see more clans take advantage of this offer so far we've had around 6-7 over the past 2 years however those were from me contacting them directly.
-
Good luck with the clan if you'd like to use JAWA as a method of recruiting (On our server) let me know and I'll poll it with our council.
-
I hope not, but you're probably right. Criticism from an outside source is like gold dust because it's usually unbiased and truthful.
-
I must say it is always interesting to see an outside perspective on JAWA whether I like or dislike what is being said. I'd like to thank you for the nice things you said about us, it's nice to know the hard work of (JAWA) members is visible to people outside our community. I'd like to reply to your cons though but before I do I just want to make it clear that I'm very aware that JAWA has them and I'll never be able to please everyone. If you're judging the past few weeks, then I'll agree the majority of our traffic has been clan members rather than visitors, definitely. However this is not the norm: http://www.thejawacl...ges/f/ff/46.png The above image was taken over the summer when we had quite possibly our largest amount of activity to date when we invited Criken and his friends over to film on our server (We heard he was interested in playing on JKA) for Criken's Fun House... BroTeamPill also came along. It was crazy but it gave us a huge amount of exposure, gaining 1 million YouTube views between the videos. This isn't really relevant to what you were talking about, however I thought it shown how much we try to branch out and get visitors even from the most unlikely of sources. I'll agree, the majority of our traffic are JAWA's, but that is usually because a lot of visitors end up applying after a few visits but to say we rarely receive outside traffic in general is very inaccurate. I also probably wouldn't put people into classes of "non mature" and "mature" because it would come across as if you're saying JAWA's aren't mature because we don't allow swearing. There are a lot of mature players in (JAWA) who have played for many many years, there are also a lot of members who are over the age of 20 including myself. I swear outside the clan quite often however I don't do it on the server/forums mainly because there are kids around, same goes for more mature themes. We've had children as young as 4 play on our server and I've heard of similar stories on other servers as well, I just don't think it's appropriate to say/do these things in front of kids the same way you wouldn't (Hopefully) IRL... Before any one says it as well, I am very aware of the rating of JKA, but it doesn't excuse the fact that children do play the game. Is it the parents/guardians fault? Perhaps, but I'd rather not play the blame game if I can do something about it on JAWA. In terms of hosting events for non JAWA's, we have bi-weekly JAWA School which is a large class (Ran by Zu and Xanatos) that is open to the public. We even have "progress bars" to mark visitors/members progress in their classes: http://i.imgur.com/Au5Tg.png We also run regular CTF, Siege, TFFA as well as training in all 3 of those which is available to the public. Do we have more inner-clan events? Yes. Could we open them up to the public? Absolutely, but whilst this may be beneficial to visitors, it would give people less of a reason to join the clan. A lot of our exclusive events are very popular however we do have around 3-4 big events open to the public a week. Just to throw it in here since it just finished 2 hours ago, our (JAWA) Ally Open Tournament #12 just finished which invites all our allies to our server for a huge tournament/set of fun events afterwards. See below for todays turnout: Here http://i.imgur.com/lHy7a.jpg I hope that's cleared up a few things, again I'd like to say that we're no where near perfect... but there are very good reasons why those cons exists. I love the fact that there is so much diversity in terms of clans out there, for example I know I could probably never get MUG to agree to our server rules but there are plenty of other clans/servers out there that may cater for his needs. It's not a matter of who is right/wrong or who has cons/pros... As MUG said, those cons can be seen as pros, and the pros can be seen as cons... it entirely depends on the person and their way of playing.

*raises hand* I was responsible for the use of the Wayback machine since his original site went down with Map-Craft. Thanks for taking the time to download them and upload them, I'm sure one of the staff will sort this soon.

Yet only one person, not "999999999" have requested it so far... Look back over our posts, I'm sure it'll add up eventually ... Wow XD Let it go.
-
I'm sure it's simple and I'm just missing it. Let's say I wanted to resize the x-wing so it was much larger than it usually is ingame. How would I go about doing this? I'm hoping to use this for some upcoming video projects.

Ohhh yeah I remember the whole donation/DVD thing. What he's done is irrelevant, I'm not posting his IP publicly even if I think he's the biggest tool in the toolbox.
-
I'm pretty sure but I could be wrong, I remember his IP because it has been static for yearsssss. He only began doing it again recently.
-
Because I'd rather not post his static IP publicly.
-
Just FYI, Tim ("author" of KOTF) is going around servers with an advertisement bind trying to send people to the website. He has a static IP so if you'd like it for banning purposes feel free to PM me. I also suggest filtering "kotf.com" He's connected as "Padawan", "Tim", "pADAWAN" and "Reborn" as of late... pretty desperate.

I must say I've always heard good things about this from JEDI, it looks very impressive

Jedi Academy concept art that didn't make the final game

... I think you're mistaking my request for desperation. This isn't something I've ALWAYS wanted and it's not something I'd even use myself... The point was that in June I found the official JK3 strategy guide which had a ton of easter eggs in it, showing you various things that never made the final game (Including a picture showing the Saboteur originally had a screen covering his face much like a fire-fighter would) and I posted a few concepts to inspire a modder around the time JKHub was launched, then realized I did this around 6 years ago on the FileFront boards. -
They're moving the q3 engine based games to Linux servers in the next few days with some DDoS protection.

all your master servers are belong to me
Link replied to eezstreet's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
Mhm, JAWA has been using it for a while now. I hope we can get this alternate master server out there and in use by the general community soon. -
For now Build 7 would be a better option than Beta 1. Me personally I think calling it e.g. Official JKHub Server wouldn't be the best idea, but rather something like "The Hub" which encourages clan recruitment like the old ClanWarriors server (Where a lot of clans including JAWA got their start). Oh and if we're going to do something like that it'd have to be on a decent host e.g. LPGS to ensure it's stable/reliable. But this should be Caelums decision since he's the manager, perhaps rename the server until he's come to a decision?
-
Just to confirm what everyone else has already said about JAWA using LPGS... they're by far the best we've used. Fair prices, brilliant support and scarily stable servers XD
