  1. Hey there welcome to the hub.
  2. Good lord that's some good modelling I just saw your other current projects as well and I'm really impressed.
  3. Who cares what other sites have or have not done? This is about doing the right thing regardless if you can get away with it or not. Also, if this is for your own personal use then why go to the trouble of making a public website where other people can download files? Surely a folder on your desktop is better fit for this purpose?
  4. Ah that, yeah but any one could put anything in there UNLESS you make the area you enter anything into: http://jkhub.org/files/file/USER_CONTENT_HERE/ e.g. User enters: 1779-man-hunt-mod And the link in the side profile becomes: http://jkhub.org/files/file/1779-man-hunt-mod/ This is how it looks on JAWA
  5. It took me around a month of solid work to gather permission for around 1,000 files on JKHub back when we started. It would had been much easier for me to not ask for permission, but it's simply the right thing to do regardless of whether another site does it or not. If you want to host files on your own website you'll need to find a decent webhost PLUS at least ask permission and show proof of asking (Emails).
  6. Those are my own creations BUT probably yes XD as a separate pack.
  7. Indeed, it allows the user to search for a key term to use e.g. "blaster", "and", "where", "WHY JADEN!?!?!?" etc Downloaded your file Circa, it'll be really handy for future projects
  8. As others have confirmed, that information can be easily spoofed.
  9. Out of curiosity, would it be fine uploading the JKA voice files all renamed from e.g. 18kyk007.mp3 to Ah of course it has to be a garbage pit doesnt it, well lets go nobody ever said that being a jedi was glamorous.mp3 ? I renamed most of them a couple of years ago when I did voice editing for my JKA videos and feel it could help a lot of other video creators when looking for appropriate vocals.
  10. http://tinyurl.com/jabit Go to the dmflags section on that page, turn off realistic grapple and update it in your server.cfg
  11. How long is a piece of string ? As long as modders and communities exist in this game, which I can't see changing any time soon, then this game will continue to run even without a master server (If that gets switched off someday soon). We should probably try pushing for n unofficial patch that includes the JKHub master server as soon as possible.

  13. As of this post, here are the google ranking position for JKHub: jedi academy downloads - 29th jedi academy files - Website unranked but forum threads are scattered around the results jedi academy - Unranked jedi hub - 1 jedi knight - 67th jedi knight files - 13th BUT this is simply a thread about JK3Files being terrible ja+ - 2nd/3rd jedi academy help - 88th BUT links to a random texture mod jedi academy tutorials - 4th BUT links to the "Getting started with mapping" tutorial rather than the index of tutorials. jedi academy hosting - 33rd BUT is not related at all jedi academy mods - 15th (Skin section) jedi academy wiki - 16th jkfiles - 17th BUT just a random forum thread jk3files - 4th (Great for people looking for JK3Files alternatives, but not so great for people who don't know JK3Files or JKHub exists) jedi academy forums - 13th but it's PugZ (CTF site hosted by JKHub) jedi academy boards - 23rd but again it's PugZ (CTF site hosted by JKHub) jedi academy news - 18th but again a random thread Personally I feel these are really really bad results for the most part, and I was wondering if we could improve this somehow? The majority of people looking for files and/or help will use some of the terms above to find what they're looking for and will not go through 5-6 pages to find us sadly. I think we're missing out on a bigger user base potentially. Source: http://moonsy.com/google-keyword-rank-checker/
  14. Aliases: Caelum Area of skills: Web/Servers Brief list of accomplishments: Creator of JKHub, Clan leader (3), Hosting communities for free, Has spent countless hours helping others set up dedicated servers Examples of contributions: JKHub.org, StormRiders (Clan), Cosmos (Clan) Comments: It's difficult to sum up this guy and his contributions to the community into such a small area, but I'll try! Back in 2011 when JK3Files began to break after FileFront was purchased by Break Media (Oh the irony...) Caelum began to share his ideas with me for an alternative. At first I honestly thought it was pointless, especially due to the fact people had tried before and gave up many times. However early on into the project I noticed that Caelum was very serious about this project and began to invest a lot of money into it, this is when a lot of people started turning heads and noticing JKHub as a serious attempt. I feel Caelum is one of those people that once he starts something he has to finish it and finish it well which is why JKHub is as successful as it is. Nowadays he is focused on building his own web hosting company from scratch and has retired from the Jedi Knight series however his accomplishments and contributions still echo today. Whilst JKHub may be his biggest contribution to the community as a whole, he has also spent countless hours assisting people one to one with their technical issues, especially with setting up dedicated servers from scratch. To the vast majority of players, building a dedicated server on Linux, adding the game and making it run is simply too difficult to pick up and figure out however every time I (Or any one else I've known) have asked him for help, he was always there putting in hours to ensure that not only it was working, but that it was as safe as he could make it.
  15. I like ::JEDI:: but the more competition the better, those looking for clans/communities should always have a choice on where to go. As I often say, nobody wants a Google-like clan/community structure so I'm hopeful ::JEDI:: will perhaps even help you get off the ground if you ask them. Don't be put off by others being bigger than you at first , make something that is different and unique. Good luck with your project!
  16. This is an idea which came from @'s thread about the "Top Jedi Academy Authors" found here however I felt it was a bit biased and perhaps approached the wrong way. After reading @@eezstreet's reply about some sort of list being seen as a hall of fame, I decided to not make this into a list but rather a (hopefully) big open discussion. Purpose Okay, the idea behind this thread is to recognize those who have made contributions to the community. I think rather than just listing favourite modders, it would be more constructive for everyone if a form of template was used so you can get across why you think somebody deserves to be recognized in your opinion. I'm hopeful that this will be used as a way to show respect to our peers whom may not be recognized much or who simply deserve the recognition that they have earned from their contributions over the years. Who is eligible? Any one, as long as that person has (In your opinion) contributed a great deal to the Jedi Knight series (Not just Jedi Academy). This is not by any means for modders only. Structure Aliases: Names this person may be recognized by Area of skills: e.g. Coding, Skinning, Tutorial writing etc etc Brief list of accomplishments: This should be an actual list e.g. Creator of the ____ website, written over 20 tutorials, has a mod with over 10,000 downloads etc. This is your opinion remember, so don't worry if you feel the accomplishments you're writing for someone don't match up to someone elses post Examples of contributions: Links/images or any other form of media which show examples of the above work. Comments: This should be the most important part and should make clear why you feel this person should be recognized for their hard work. Template Aliases: Answer Area of skills: Answer Brief list of accomplishments: Answer Examples of contributions: Answer Comments: Answer Agree with someone? I know this goes without saying, but I'd like to actively encourage people to click the button if you agree with somebodies recognition below. This is not a contest and votes will not be counted towards anything, however it will show if the community is in agreement with that person. Please keep it to one person per reply, you can make as many replies as you want of course. Have fun!
  17. I'll get to work on it later, but I should give credit to Revian for the idea What negatives come to mind? I'll try to iron them out as much as I can before I make the thread.
  18. I am oddly tempted to make my own thread with a blank list and allow people to nominate authors/contributors to the community (With a written explanation for each) which would operate on likes received if people agreed. That way we can truly recognize these authors and it can be completely unbiased when it comes to the author of the thread and his opinion.
  19. That was later on in the thread when you added almost everyone elses suggestions but his. Why didn't you add them before he was "rude"?
  20. Uhm, no. This was his first reply to this thread: It had nothing before or following it, he just put down names he thought were missing if it were his list. How is that rude? It's clear you haven't liked him for a while, which is fine, but don't use that as punishment for the modders who deserve to be on there.
  21. I am struggling to understand the point of this thread now... I originally understood it to be a list that is your opinion, which most of us all agreed with but suggested additions if it were ours. Now it seems to be a collaboration which you said midway through this thread you were against. If this is a collaboration, then adding TIM (Who is widely known for profiting on other peoples work without permission) is a complete mystery. You'll find that the suggestion of adding TIM and the likes behind it were very sarcastic. Razorace should definitely be on that list though, he (As far as I'm aware) built the backbone of many big modding projects with OJP. I really do think this has turned into a "good/great modders" thread rather than the best of all JK3 history. By the way, you may want to calm down and relax
  22. Oh don't forget Inyri, she brought out quite a few nice mods in her time.
  23. Opinions are irrelevant he has some of (If not the most) downloaded content in JK3 whether you dislike him or his work. You can't be biased when making such lists. By the way, EagleStriker deserves to be on this list in my opinion. He might not had been a modder (To my knowledge) but he made some of the best comedy videos I've ever seen for a game.
  24. If you'd like to see Caels hosting in action, JAWA is hosted by him right now
