Development has not ceased, just put on hold temporarily while I deal with real life matters that take up the majority of my time.
-
I also really want to thank all of you for this amazing show of support! It's all this positive reaction that keeps me motivated to see this project through the challenges It often presents.
-
They are indeed similar and I'm even recreating/making very similar textures to further maintain that aesthetic. I like the idea that throughout the centuries the Sith maintained certain design aesthetics that identified them culturally.
-
Wow! Thanks! I'm actually aping the SWTOR models pretty closely and only deviating from them slightly.
-
Oh yeah, and there will be new models like this one based on the banners from SWTOR. I tweaked the design a bit but I didn't want to stray too far from the original design because I love it so much! And here's a screenshot of the original from SWTOR for reference
-
Theoretically it would work in devmapped SP mode, but no promises. And by the time I'm done, it will be at least 95% custom textures.
-
Wow! Thanks to all the positive comments and likes! Unfortunately I won't be doing a SP version of this. That's a whole lot more scripting than I signed up for. And yes there will be a form of Dark Council chamber, but keep in mind, while this has a LOT in common with the Sith Academy on Korriban, it's not the same place and has a different layout.
-
I'll take that under consideration. Do You have any insight into how to include animated models that aren't technically NPCs? My current tests involve heavily scripting NPCs to maintain a certain animation and behave as intended, such as having acolytes meditating.

Thanks, yeah I'm not feeling any pressure except the motivation to make this Temple as awesome as possible. You can see a preview here! -
It took me years and years of failures and false starts and long hiatuses to get to where I am. I'm not really sure what it is about taking years off from a project that sparks a new level of motivation and a greater understanding of the process. Because seriously that's a thing! I started work on the Phantom Knights Training Academy in 2005 and after several months, shelved it and quit mapping. Then in 2014 I returned to the project with a renewed passion and loads of new ideas on how to make it work and it ended up FAR exceeding my original intentions and became the best map I've ever made! Likewise, when I began this Sith Temple in 2014, it was a very different map, but it just wasn't working for me. So I put it away and now 2 years later I started it from scratch and it's REALLY coming together nicely and I have a greater understanding of ICARUS scripting which allows me to do more than I had originally planned.

Thanks! As for your question, no I really have no interest in revisiting any of these, I've long since moved on. The 3rd one is actually completed, I just didn't feel like doing the botroutes and release documents because I just wasn't feeling it. It's just a small gimmicky duel map with deathtraps and some secrets. The Japanese temple is something I MIGHT consider revisiting later after I finish my Sith Temple, but I just don't know. Certain things were beyond my capabilities when I made it and I was unhappy with the compromises I was forced to make. -
You and me both! It's both really fun to make and REALLY stressful! Especially that scripted diagonal elevator! Scripting that took several days and over 50 pages of code. And now I've had to put a hold on the bacta tank until I sort out a clipping problem with the cylinder tube.

I'd be happy to! ...as long as you understand most of these are unfinished and missing textures. And yes I did several Mortal Kombat themed ones. -
A first look at my massive new Sith Temple! A huge pyramid style temple inspired heavily by Star Wars: The Old Republic (and to a lesser extent Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Finale) It will be loaded with cool features and populated with NPCs to really bring it to life! I'll likely add more previews to this topic over time so stay tuned! [Please note that this is not the finished design and is DEFINITELY subject to change!]

Yeah I've brought the part from atlantica over and it's still doing it. It's like an invisible barrier around the inside of the cylinder that extends several units out. making the effective movable space inside much smaller than it appears. Having the tube close upward catches the player on the invisible barrier and crushes them. This is NOT how it's supposed to work, and it doesn't happen in the atlantica map.

No I'm not, but I'm beginning to think maybe it's time for a username change LOL! -
So I'm building a bacta tank much like the ones in the Atlantica map, but I'm having this problem. The cylinder seems to have a sort of invisible buffer or clipping that makes the space inside it much narrower than it appears. This doesn't happen in Atlantica but an identical cylinder in my test map does this. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi everyone! I'm Kait! I've been playing this franchise since Dark Forces. My username (and last released map name) was actually derived from my original DF2: Jedi Knight clan (Phantom Knights) and my favorite MP character skin from the Manowars 2 mod (Who doesn't love a purple Mandalorian?). While I do occasionally PLAY JO and JA, mostly I use them as a creative outlet because I absolutely love designing maps. I've been modding since the release of Jedi Outcast, (We're just gonna pretend those couple JK skins I made never happened LOL! Only one person saw them and he's not telling anyone!). I only release my best work, so the tons of subpar projects I have under my belt will likely never see the light of day. The few that have been released are available here, but for those not familiar with them Check them out here! Anyway, I am going to try to be more active in the community, and of course I am working on a positively gigantic Sith Temple map (Referenced in my signature). I'll probably be around asking scripting questions since this is going to be a pretty heavily scripted map. Lots of features and even scripted NPCs to give it some life! I look forward to interacting with you all soon! - Kaitlyn (PK_Azlon)

Welcome back! I've always been a big fan of your maps. I just returned after a hiatus from mapping myself!
-
Yes it can be loaded into SP by opening the console ( ~ key or shift + ~) and using either map pkhqv3 or by enabling cheats first and using devmap pkhqv3. That said, it was not designed for SP and as a result, several features (and textures) do not function as intended, and obviously you can't use bots in SP. For optimal experience, you definitely want to runt his in MP using other players or bots.

Well so far I hadn't intended to set it on Korriban. Terrain and exterior based maps aren't exactly my strong suit. The visual theme of the architecture is extremely rooted in the interior of the Sith Academy on Korriban, but the temple itself would be located somewhere else. My thinking is that it was commissioned in secret by a megalomaniacal Sith Lord who expected the emperor to be defeated by the republic. He would rebuild and rule over the sith empire after the republic let its guard down. Unfortunately for him, while the temple was completed he didn't live to see his plans come to fruition. The temple was abandoned for some time before being rediscovered later by a dark force user after the battle of Ruusan who unknown to members of Bane's sith lineage declared himself a lord of the sith and began training a new generation of Sith in the temple.

Here is a first look at the Sith Archives room, part of a much larger Sith Temple that I am working on. This room is nearly done but the smaller details (and textures) are still subject to change. This sith holocron is floating and spinning btw. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks.

@@MoonDog So THAT'S why Raven used a group key on entities in the Kejim_post map! I saw it but for the life of me I couldn't figure out why they did it since I couldn't figure out how to make use of it. Can we have a favorite poster feature on here? You just became mine lol!

Thanks, I know about select inside. It isn't always practical in more complex areas as it grabs unwanted brushes as well.
