I see you found Ste's rant.
-
If you read the article, I'm pretty sure you would be convinced that it was totally a joke.

At least they aren't as bad as fscking Paramount.

Really the only thing that's the problem is the assets. Once you download them, all you need to do is continually update your DLLs and maybe a PK3 or two that I decide to change. @@Darth Futuza: if you'd be a peach and upload the assets here, I can write proper installation, compilation, etc instructions as well as basic information on how to host. I'm also kinda stuck since I don't have the most recent copy of the assets, otherwise I'd be chipping away at some code.

Pff, I've stopped giving a shit about everything really and have a newfound apathetic view on life. I just don't want people harassing me about it.

It's totally not dead! See! I fixed something! https://github.com/JKGDevs/JediKnightGalaxies/commit/5eef5880a8a0512e1cefe5757e6cc3621049eb11 ...

In the base game, yes. Most other values excluding missile velocity are controlled in one file: ext_data/weapons.dat. I implemented an override to OpenJK that allows people to modify the damage and alt damage of weapons there too.

The Coruscant scene occurs between Kejim and Artus. It's a briefing of Artus, given by Mon Mothma, basically. Probably just regular civilian clothes.
-
I like the direction you're taking this. I agree on all points, except with the sleeves on the prison outfit- I think you could probably get away with this though with a surfOff/*off for peeps like me who prefer the sleeveless version. Some suggestions: Probably less cleavage on the commando skin for practicality reasons (Do we use this outfit also on the demo mission? Not something I considered, but perhaps we could do that one too)I think the prison outfit could benefit most from the colors in the first picture. I think the one in the second picture is a little too bright (probably just lighting though)Maybe have some Star-Wars-language (what are those symbols called again? brainfart) along the legs there in black? Just an idea. Were you planning on the Artus mission having the DF2 clothes, or were you just going to have those for the DF2 mod? (or something)

The released assets aren't in a PK3. I think they're on a Google Drive type of thing. I've sorta been in limbo/apathetic/brainfart mode atm, so take this with a very severe grain of salt, but I might be interested in making my own fork of it now that there's no bureaucracy and attachments to worry about (XD sorta...I mean I was really running the show for a while, let's be for real). I just want a small bit of code to mess around with and I don't really know where to go.

You could argue that the circumstances with Leia and Jan are slightly different: Leia is literally Darth Vader's daughter, and it's likely that he knows this. Maybe it's special treatment on his part. The only reason Desann keeps Jan alive is that she has a lot of knowledge which may prove useful.Leia was only captured for a short period of time (~a day tops), and Jan was captured for several days (as revealed by Galak's dialogue)The Remnant aren't ruled by the same people as the Empire, so perhaps practices are different. Heck, the Remnant openly tolerates Sith, whereas Vader and the Emperor are seen as people clinging to a hokey old religion by Tarkan and co.I can't remember what the timeline in DF2 looks like, but you've got a valid point there nonetheless.

The design direction and cartoon designs aren't the same. I find the younger Ahsoka more appealing to the eye too, but she looks older and wiser now. You have to consider that TCW made everybody have stupidly huge anime eyes and lips, and Rebels seems to make the proportions more realistic.

There's five major scenes involving Jan, so I'll round them up nicely: Kejim: She ought to be wearing something suited for stealth/combat, as Kyle and Jan are to infiltrate the base together. Maybe a few bits of technical equipment or a first aid kit strapped to her waist.Coruscant: Could be wearing either Kejim or Artus clothes, or optionally some civilian type clothes- perhaps the same clothes at the end of the game.Artus Prime: Only seen with Desann/Tavion. Probably wearing a flightsuit or mechanic garb, since she was leading an airstrike on the topside.Doomgiver/Yavin Swamps: Some sort of prisoner clothes. Maybe she has a haircut too? I wouldn't say the same clothes as the prisoners wear on Kejim/Artus, but maybe something gray or white, more akin to what Leia was wearing in Ep4.Finale: Maybe the same clothes as Coruscant, but civilian/Jedi-friendly outfit. It shouldn't suggest that she's a Jedi (she's not.), but it should suggest that she had a change of clothes at the academy.I would argue that there should be at least two hairstyles as well, but this is purely optional: Ponytail, same as base, but give her some bangs, damn it. A tight ponytail simply doesn't work with Asian hair.Hair down, probably for the finale/Coruscant.Super duper optional: a short hairstyle, as maybe the Remnant has had her hair cut.

Most excellent. Are you using jquery-UI? If so, a simple little drop down with platform-specific downloads and some links anchored at the top are honestly all that's needed.

PIXAR releases Noncommercial RenderMan
eezstreet replied to CrimsonStrife's topic in Art, Media & Technology
Hmm, seems Tractor is the render farm management software, but I don't know if that's released for free or not. Not too bummed about that though. -
Yeah. However, you can do a tricky hack that involves making really really thin clip brushes that the player can walk up.

How far have things gotten with this? I had a brief thought about lip sync files earlier. I was thinking that there could be .lip files (formatted with the generic COM_Parse, same as shaders, vehicles, etc use) which could be used. From what I recall, I was never going to use the modified skeleton in actual gameplay, just in cinematics. Ingame, Kyle can just use the floppy fish sticks talking method that's already ingame. Jan on the other hand, I wanted her to be as reactive and interesting as Elizabeth from BioShock: Infinite. So, Jan would probably be the only exception. I have a vague interest in getting back at this while I have some downtime. My meds are making me have fairly severe brain fog however.

Strange - the bit of flesh between the innermost eyelash and the inner corner of the eye looks bizarre to me. It could be just that angle though, now that I think about it. Have you thought more about the outfit? Is she going to wear different clothes for different scenes? (I for one found it weird that she is wearing the same clothes for what is referenced as days in the game. Kyle too, and even more so, considering that he hugs and kisses Jan in the same clothes that he was in while wading around in Reelo's trash caravan)

As far as scripting is concerned, the only thing you need to change is any blocks like these: affect("kyle") to affect("player") You also need to make sure that your textures exist in JKA and you'll need to redo the waypointing as JKA uses different entities for waypoints. If you didn't use waypoint_2/waypoint_4/waypoint_8/waypoint_16/whatever then you won't need to do anything with waypoints. Some spawnflags may have changed as well on the triggers, but I honestly don't remember. The NPCs are different. If you made any changes to npcs.cfg, you need to export these changes to the .npc files (and actually, .npc files do work in JK2, so keeping that in mind may save you time)

PIXAR releases Noncommercial RenderMan

Ace. What are the specs for rendering? How large of a render farm is needed? -
It's most likely not an item limit that's being reached - I suspect the real limit is 512 or 256 - probably more likely to be a .menu file size limit, most likely in characters/bytes.

I can do some pretty serious firefighting with a gardening hose when I'm angry. -

With a gardening hose, shouldn't it be fairly easy to put out a forest fire? ... -

Linux* oh wait, you wizened up! Here, have some toejam: I've never noticed that or had that problem, but then again I really don't care about minor things like icons.
