Binary Sunset (cover work in progress)
CaptainCrazy replied to CaptainCrazy's topic in Art, Media & Technology
Yes I realized that after but I've got these really bloody annoying construction workers next door, hammering and drilling, working from 7am-5pm and I can hardly hear what the hell I'm doing, they drive me insane Really hard for me hear what I'm playing even when wearing headphones but I do agree the echo kinda makes it all fuse together and the timing is off a little... I suppose I'll just have to work on it in the evening when the little buggers have pissed off, until such time I shall remain pissed off -
Regardless I like it a lot and I kinda miss making maps for Source now but you have shown that it could be just as fun making them for this xD I don't think that it would work as well should it be 3rd person though.

Okay it's far from perfect and I'm certainly not trying to stick to the original, I'm still trying to work things out in my head as to how I'd actually like it to sound and which direction I wish to take. I think I'll need to add a few more brass sections to it to give it a bit more volume but I'm just trying to work out which direction I want to take it first. Maybe just make my own version, I was kinda thinking darker perhaps just after the Sith had taken over the galaxy I dunno. As I said don't bash me too much I know it's far from perfect but I'm still working things out and making orchestral pieces can be very tricky lol. https://soundcloud.com/armoured-fury/binary-sunset-cover-work-in-progress Suggestions are welcome and, of course, feel free to give any ideas

I've made a few maps on Source and this does kinda remind me of that but in a good way xD It's like taking the style of something else and making something of your own but in the same style.

Interesting concept and the map looks pretty awesome so far

@@Mandalorian I made another quick example of guitars in Omnisphere, sadly the timing got messed up in places somehow =/ https://soundcloud.com/armoured-fury/crocketts-theme-guitar-test @@therfiles which one? Yeh but I'd probably re-make it if I were making it for somebody xD

I wanted to make a darker version but there are just way too many instruments to choose from and it'd take hours to find the perfect ones lol.
-
I like to recreate my fav songs sometimes or make tutorials showing people how to play them. I made a very quick and rather shoddy example of Omnisphere but hey I've only had it for a few days and it has thousands upon thousands of sample banks so I haven't been through them all yet lol. https://soundcloud.com/armoured-fury/omnisphere-guitar-example

@@Mandalorian I taught myself how to play synthesizer pretty much. I'd be a LOT better but I'm always juggling multiple things such as 3D modeling, drawing, singing, concepts, etc. so I'm not professional at one particular thing. There are people that have been a 3D model artist just as long as me but they are superior because they focused all of their learning into that thing alone whereas I focused on multiple things xD In the old days I'd have to plug a line-in from a keyboard into my microphone socket and use Audacity for multi-track recording. Of course that was a pain in the ass because if you made one mistake you had to do the entire part again. Now I use Fruity Loops and have a full 88 key MIDI controller. I think that my main problem is that I've seen/heard other peoples work on the internet over the years, people who are better than me so I think to myself "What's the point?" I'm not jealous or anything, it actually makes me aspire to be better and I suppose that everybody is good in their own way. Let's face it the music that you or I make comes from our imagination and that makes it unique. I wish that I could play the guitar but I'm left handed and I'm too lazy to go and buy a guitar, re-string it and learn to play it. If you're looking for a great variety of synth sounds then you should try Omnisphere but it's library is about 50Gig in size however it is quite extensive. I do prefer Alchemy though as you get a LOT more control over the instruments. I'm not going to deny that the voice is bad in places but it's hard to maintain that gruffness without hurting your vocal chords. I'm pretty good at doing American accents too lol. I once went an entire match on XBox live talking in an American accent and they all believed that I was an American lol. I can do several other impersonations such as Mr. Burns, Mayor Quimby and a few others.
-
I believe that I made the majority of it using Alchemy but I rather stupidly didn't save the project file so I'll have to do it again I haven't actually created an entire song yet because I'm too busy messing around with vst's and sometimes I hear one that I like and I just make a little song revolving around it which is the case with this one.
-
I actually really like this... It's amazing how somebody took him talking and turned it into a song. I really love the chord sequence, the faint choir and the base notes, it's so cool.. Even though it is about a burger lol. The way that this person took him talking and turned it into a great sounding song, made it sound as though this guy was actually singing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z1Krfww5eE

Listened to this again today and it's still a great song in my opinion. I've always been a huge fan of groups like E.S Posthumous, Enigma, Mike Oldfield, etc. Songs that have orchestral mixed with modern instruments like electric guitar, drum kits and such. This song really makes me feel great, no, fantastic inside and the lyrics are very true. I think that my fav line in the song has to be: Empires built, and nations burned Mass graves remain unturned Descendants of the dispossessed Return with bombs strapped to their chests Or if you prefer the instrumental version:

@@Circa at least you're decent enough to give warnings. So many forums would have just banned him on the spot without warning.

I couldn't keep a straight face watching this... In a way it kinda reminds me of Palpatine when he's finally got full control over the galaxy and keeps maniacally laughing at everything. (no there isn't a song in it at all) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC4m-h7ZdAA

I suppose you could get it to snap up by recording yourself and then putting the speed of the video up by 10 or something lol. No not that I know of xD

Star Wars Episode VII Discussion
CaptainCrazy replied to Circa's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Sith Witches seriously?? Not sure what to think about this rumor... http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/06/25/star-wars-episode-7-does-this-mean-we-ll-see-boba-fett-1567409?lt_source=external,manual#!4bPaN -
You'll find that it's kinda better to use .ASE as you have more control over the model and textures that way. You can't really modify a .MD3 once it has been compiled. Is it something that you made yourself?

I never use Chrome, I don't like how it opens a new process for each tab that you have open. That and a few other things.

When I was a child, up until the age of maybe 11, I had no interest in playing a musical instrument at all. Heck my dad would sometimes try to get me interested in playing keyboard because he played one himself. I heard this song (at the bottom of this post) when I was about 7 years old, some 20+ years ago, and have loved it ever since but I never really gave much thought as to how it was even played or constructed. I only knew that I loved the progression of it, how it goes from being all gentle and soothing and calm, into something full of power and ferocity. Taking such a calm peaceful and warm melody and turning it into something explosive and powerful is just amazing and I guess that's why I like to make the same sort of songs. When I was about 11 years old my parents got me this monotone keyboard for Christmas and I figured "well I may as well at least try to play the damn thing..." I was thinking of a song in my head (which was The Ideal World at that moment) and I could just play it on this little keyboard after a few tries just by thinking of the song. It went from there really and a few years later I discovered that this song, the song I had loved since I was young, was all played on synthesizer and it blew my mind. It made me realize that anything is possible and it spawned a passion in me, a passion to make music. Anyhoo this is the song that started it all Loved it for 20+ years now and it still truly amazes me, the fact that this entire thing was made on a synthesizer in the 80's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2TmOpcBxYY

Yes it's a mausoleum and on the front, apparently, it says "Here lyeth the hopes and dreams of the Star Wars prequels and its fans. Born Ep1, died EP3" But hey I like the prequels kinda lol.

So I've been working on this for an hour or so, just making it up as I go along as usual. Kinda sounds like the sort of song that you'd get in a game menu or something xD https://soundcloud.com/armoured-fury/ambient-song-wip
