Botdra Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Been reading a tutorial on replacing the menu music in JA... I can't get my music to work, and I found out it's because it's not 129kbps (I thought it was a typo since 128kbps is very common), but can't find a program that will convert audio to MP3 44100Hz 129kbps. Thoughts?
Horatio Culver Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Audacity can convert to 44100Hz. Try that.
Botdra Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 My file is at 44100Hz, just in 128kbps and not 129kbps and isn't working when I load up the menu.
Kriskopreved Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I recently did a small mod. It changed the whole soundtrack.Used the program "Advanced MP3 converter". This program converts very well and all of the tracks in the game are stable. For correct operation of the audio file in the game settings should be: 1) MP3 2) 44100Hz 3) 160kbps
MagSul Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 129kbps has always worked for me in the past. When I drafted the tutorial on editing the menu music I cross-checked with a few other sources as well and it seemed to be a common setting that worked for people. Would "129kbps or higher" make any sense in this case?
Circa Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 128 should work. The music in my mod was all 128. I believe that's what the original music is.
Botdra Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 I keep hearing different things from different people, and no luck no matter what I try. I haven't tried 160 yet so I'll give it a shot, thanks gentlemen.
Solution Botdra Posted April 25, 2013 Author Solution Posted April 25, 2013 So I managed to get it working... dunno how, I used the same method as always but now it's working. Thanks for all your help. I did want to ask if anyone could explain another small issue... the music in the JAMP menu - even using the base music - always starts from the beginning again if I go to another menu and then go back to the main menu. For example, I load up the game and the music starts playing at the main menu. I click "Play" and then click "Back" to take me back to the main menu and the music starts again from the beginning. Any way to fix this? This may be a better questions for @@eezstreet...
eezstreet Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Known issue, no real workaround or fix for it due to the way they set up the menus.
Botdra Posted April 25, 2013 Author Posted April 25, 2013 Known issue, no real workaround or fix for it due to the way they set up the menus. Can we hope for an OpenJK fix in the future? Understanding of course that it would be very low on the priority list.
eezstreet Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I suppose one could put in a hacky fix, but it's quite low priority really. It really isn't completely feasible without changing the .menu file.
