How can I light a map without using entity lights or shader lights and yet not using fullbright?

 

i've seen defrag using some sort of dirty command or something like that to simulate shadows, and it looks way better than fullbright and nearly as good as lights.

Keep in mind Q3/DeFRaG use the r_mapOverbrightBits cvar, which is hardcoded as 1 in JA. I added it back in JA++, you can expect it in the next Smod too hopefully.

a map with only ambient will just be like fullbright though.

 

In defrag maps, they have some manner of making it random\simulating some shadows.

Question: can we make it against the rules to have a thread titled that to keep people who have nothing to offer to the thread and or don't care from clicking on it?

 

It'd be nice if people titled threads properly, it'd even help the poster to attract people who know the answer to their specific problem so it can be solved quickly.
