About This File

This mod changes the desert skybox to look more like Tatooine, complete with two suns and a vast dune sea. The default one looks pretty bad, so this hopefully improves it a little. If you’re a stickler for detail of Star Wars canon, this mod is for you.

Originally made this as a request to add a second star to the sky but decided to improve the entire skybox and release it publicly.

Important note:

The Desert skybox is used by other maps, so it’ll change those as well. One major one is t1_danger in single player. So it might look bad on there, but if you’re a MP player, it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Nice ! :-)

Should release a complete HD skies pack, or a dynamic skies pack like here : http://jkhub.org/topic/4590-moon-shader/

Edit : the problem of the dynamic sky is that each player will see a different moment of the time, depending when they joined the server.

Oh hell yes, that's perfect! The original skybox looked nothing like Tatooine.

I think we need more higher quality skyboxes, as some of them lack environment, something

that makes a map unique.

Downside is, baseJKA only allows for 2048 (or is it 1024) pixels as a maximum resolution for textures. That's why this still isn't amazing quality like I wanted. Anything else requires OpenJK.

An HD Skybox mod might be in the works soon, but would require OpenJK to use.

@@Oobah  did a great job on his Yavin map. I think the map blends well into the skybox
