Alright I got good news!
I will be getting help from my fellow clan members of JoF (Milamber and scwich).
Milamber is making the current helmet but entirely from scratch and scwich is trying to make the other helmet variations.
I will update you guys as soon as possible but it looks like you guys can expect the praetorian guard to be uploaded on jkhub files somewhere soon
Cheers
-
Looks really good. Hopefully you can make an original helmet somehow and then upload it in our file section.
Thanks. I would be super happy if someone could make one or few helmets? We have our internship and bachelor coming soon so we won't have time.

Hello everyone
I am proud to announce my release of a Praetorian Guard in Jedi Knight Jedi Acadamy!
Because my brother and I made a Supreme Leader Snoke model, we also felt obligated to try and make a Praetorian Guard. Well I am happy we did!
At first we didn't thought it would be possible but after some research we gave it a goTo make it short, I started from a frankenstein of 3 parts:
- Praetorian Guard's helmet has been ported by the Punisher and Dark_Apprentice
- DT_Savage Opress' torso made by DT85
- Kylo Ren (TFA & TLJ)'s lower made by PlasmaThe body and the arms have been heavily modified, it took me a lot of hours to perfectionate it. My brother did an awesome job on the textures, it couldn't have been any better.
We also got help from Tompa (bot files), Swegmaster (minor bugs fixed) and Kylo Ren who helped us creating the perfect shader
I am really pleased with the outcome and I hope you'll be too!

Due to the helmet being ported I cannot upload it which sucks balls

There is no fix in blender as far as I know.
Is it possible to use it in another program like 3ds max?

@@Psyk0Sith the split UV seams are rewuired by the ghoul2 format, but you can hide the UV seems by editing the vertex normals along the seam, or using the updated version of carcass.
But afaik the Blender exporter does not export vertex mormals and I have yet to see a Blender .xsi exporter that works for carcass.
Thanks for the information guys, although I understand little of it. What can I do to fix it? Is there a fix at all?

If a blender user can help solve the issue, the actual error message he's getting is this:
"LOD 0 UV seam found." after welding open edges.
@@PreFXDesigns maybe try this:
https://jkhub.org/topic/9505-blender-split-meshes-in-uv-seams/?hl=%2Bblender+%2Buv
if it's indeed related to the same issue.
I have learnt to do 'merge at centre' and then I press 'V'. This way it unbinds them and the seams should be gone. But like I said I still get the lines u see in the picture.

Hello everyone.
After watching this video (underneath pictures) I came to conclusion that I could turn my hard edges into smooth shadings.
I have edited this model since a very long time and so many things have been changed that I might have probably fucked up somewhere.
My question is: As you can see in the screenshots, is it possible to remove the line and make it smooth?
Thank you

Don't make things more difficult for yourself, check weights in modview instead, you can make the model full white and change to wireframe to really pin point the problem areas.
Well I did it in Modview and checked the wireframe, but to me it all looks normal. I can't see any issues
-
r_showtris 2 might only work in openJK, try r_showtris 1 instead.
And it's also cheat protected. Because it can be used as a makeshift wallhack.
-
Go into SP
Ok but how do I get my model in single player?
-
It should be showing the model's triangles when using that command. I'm not seeing anything in that video.
-
The model originates from a prisoner/jedi model. I don't know where it went wrong but I was also guessing that it might have something to do with weighting.
Unfortunately weighting is difficult to learn and comprehend and I have my exams coming up.
What do you mean with 'r_showtris 2'? In Blender?
Thank you for your concern
Ingame, from the console. /r_showtris 2
Ok so as you can see, the result is the same
-
Looks like bad weighting. can you record a video like that with r_showtris 2 ?
Depending on the topology of the model this might be fixable with a slight adjustment of the weights.

Updated with better proof. I hope someone can help me

Hello everyone!
Yes, I'm yet here again with another question but this time the problem is happening with my beloved model I always play with <3
What is the problem?
The problem is annoying shadows on my playermodel's butt and shoulders. It is highly noticable when walking/running.
First of all, assets models do not have this problem nor have I encountered it with someone else his model on JKHub. This must be something that is only happening to me.
When does it happen?
At the moment I'm playing with a version of my model in-game that only shows minor shadows.
Strangly, when using Blender for whatever reason (UV-editing, edit mode) the result is more shadow primarily on his butt and left shoulder.
I am really confused because i don't know what's causing it.
Because I've put a tiny bit of glow on my players back, you won't notice the shadow on his shoulders that much.
This is something I've been dealing with a long time since the very beginning of my creation but somehow it went away and came back at times, idk maybe because I've re-edited the model.
I have really got no clue. I mean this holds me back to further improve my model.
Is there someone who could help me with this issue?

Probably the aforementioned problem with the normals. Blender should theoretically be able to fix it, either recalculating the normals outside (Edit Mode -> Mesh -> Normals -> Recalculate Outside) or flipping its normals (Edit Mode -> Mesh -> Faces -> Flip Normals), but in case it doesn't, you can edit the shader of that texture so that it is visible from both sides, inserting the line cull twosided before any shader block.
I tested the two solutions but they didnt worked
But yeah it's not that big of an issue.
Thank you for your help guys!
-
That's probably because you have to fix the weights of the mesh. Basically change the name of the bones it is weighted to in Data -> Vertex Groups so that it will be targeted to the left leg bones which affect the mesh.
I have no idea how to weight paint. It's to complicated for me. The belt which i duplicated is parented to hips_caps_torso_off. In Vertex Group i have two options "Pelvis and rfemurYZ". I have no idea what to do next
UPDATE: ok i changed rfemurYZ to lfemurYZ and it worked
Now let's see what it looks like ingame
UPDATE: ingame it's invisible
I mean i can see it's there a bit but when I turn my screen it goes away. It looks like the same mechanism with glasses in JKA.
-
Unfortunately it doesnt work in JKA. The position of the belt is totally wrong. I assume because left and right leg move differently ingame. I guess it's not possible.
-
Have you edited the skin file? What is the piece that you duplicated named, and what is the name of the original piece
OMG yes it was! Thank you
-
Can you post a screenshot?
Don't mind the actual skin, still work in progress for a clan member
-
Weird but the positition of the accessory on the other leg is wrong.
Besides that it the duplicated one has no texture although it uses the same image :/
Is it really that difficult? XD
-
Make sure you change both the Object Name and the Name under Ghoul 2 Properties, otherwise it will keep the same name as the original object, and that will cause a lot of troubles.
Also, be careful when mirroring objects, as it might mess up the object normals, and will basically make that model piece (or parts of it) inside out.
Ok thank you. trying it out right now.

Hello everyone
I am having problems with duplicating in Blender. In fact I am not able to duplicate anything at all because when I try open in modview it says "this models needs rebuilding guys" One is not connected up the hierarchy or something.
For example I wish to duplicate an accessory from one leg to the other. I just click on duplicate -> miror and parent it to the other leg (& change name) and then I don't know what to do in order to let it work in Modview. It let me save in Blender though.
Can someone help me with this issue?
Thank you
Greetings
