yeah i been kinda compensating the angle for now u can kinda see it in the right ortho.. i caught that this time lol
are those kinda vert expensive or u think theyre good to go? if anything i can just model it as well as i can with no worry of polys, then go back later n maybe clean some stuff.. so yeah if u see me going a little deep on maybe the ears and the nose its cuz im gunna go back and hit it again n maybe clean it up some. i see it being maybe 1600 tris at the end if i keep going like i am

Would I be wrong if I thought your evo trooper was a port?
ridiculously..
u can see the evolution of the mesh as i adjusted everything. ill never port or steal i do this for practice to get better. and that would be kinda dumb lol
thx 4 the compliment tho i guess.. everytime i get accused of porting i feel like im getting a lil better lol
but that evo trooper is next after proxy to get a total overhaul anyway.. so if u think it looks ok now lol...
im gunna start this over.. but lemme point out some major screwups i have when first starting a face and possibly nip it in the bud
the areas in red are parts where i cant really tell from the roto pics how much depth it has.. so i tend to make flat faces til it really starts coming together and i notice its all screwy.. big problem was i didnt know much about facial anatomy too and now that i spent today screwing with anatomy tuts im ready to give er another shot.. any pointers on these problem areas tho before i start?

i heard the shaded view of it was pretty bad.. but like i said i heard i never got to see it shaded
and perfect is a pretty difficult word to throw around in here

ive got plennnnnty of nice references, and like i said im learning as i go. but im not intimidated by hellkobras starkiller. inspired if anything.
i will work on this little by little as i go and hope to not only have a decent starkiller, but a decent original rendition of sam witwer and an extensive knowledge gained thru trial and error.

give me some feedback. what looks like paper? his straps? trying to save space.. his textures? we assessed my texturing looks rather cartoonish and i need to spend time focusing on shading and tones.. put a little effort in there big dog and i can address the issues if need be.
fret not tho there young fella.. im not releasing this until hes done. and by done i mean spot on
i just have no real reason to rush it, and im focusing on one area at a time. im really glad i learned how to create hand painted normal maps tho that is pretty badass.. and im really proud of how i stuck with it and never took any of the ridiculous amount of trolling over my learning process seriously lol. or id prolly be done modelling right about now. so never think im gunna take straight offense unless u give me crap feedback and mock my efforts.
and didnt somebody say hk's starkiller was just a buncha frankensteined stuff?
anyways.. i enjoy any artists work. its the effort i dig.
ill get there soon.. and it wont be thestarkiller yer familiar with.. but more of a sam witwer hopefully.. cuz to me they look a bit different.. and i dont want a manny llamas rendition.. i want a chalks rendition.. soon enough

yeah i just wasted like the better part of an hour trying to fix up that aat... its crap. even if i fixed it all... the thing was modelled kind of janky and it wouldnt be optimized at all buncha wasted verts here n there.. everything is segmented like.. by faces? so say the turret.. isnt a group.. a couple faces of it are.. then a couple faces go to another group etc.. and even if i merged it all real nicely id have to go back n pretty much start each peice over to optimize it for better gameplay.. so uhhh.. mini.. u wanna finish yers dude?
faces duplicated.. verts not welded for like half of the verts cylinders with 20 sides simple geometry instead of extruded is just mashed separate geometry together.. yeah i cant do it.. and still b able to sleep at nights knowing i let it happen lol

ive prolly turned down 1 cuz the level of difficulty.. asked me to make an animated menu all in softimage then convert it to roqs so they could have an "hd" menu with bump maps n stuff.. but i was like i dunno dude lol prolly take me better part of 6 months to finish everything he was talking about..
other than that i usually fill requests no worries
id just much rather them all be like this lmao

theoretically...
it would need to be something like when the code defines saberstyle_1...
and u replace it to something like saberstyle_x...
then u define saberstyle_x to use whatever u name as xxxxx.sty is right?
so it knows to change the saberstyle to whatever u name.sty?
am i close here?
but then every saberstyle u add wouldnt actually be nothing like a .sab file.. itll be a small chunk of code i think?

so i figured id finish up the repulse since its going in starkillers animation set that im releasing with starkiller. its not just an anim tho its a fully functioning repulse... but.. i have some minor issues id like to work out n get some help on..
first... refraction? any ideas on how to fake it maybe with a warped texture alpha?
2nd.. the repulse i made back in the day replaced the entire desann style.. which i didnt care cuz i was making a full tfu mod./.. but now that im all alone on this 1.. i just want to have a tfu style character and i dont wanna rewrite much..so.. if i add a line like this into animevents.cfg
AEV_FIRE 1868 0 0
then it should "fire" on frame 1868 (the 5th frame of BOTH_BOW)... and change the bow anim to where it strikes the ground at the 5th frame... then when i bow it should strike the ground correct? i gets nothing. and i dont wanna rewrite a whole style like before because its the saber and the anim that make the repulse work. not just an anim. so i wrote a cfg that looks like this
unbind F9
saber repulse
wait 10
bow
wait 150
saber starkillerbind F9 exec repulse
it should work. (i unbind the repulse then rebind after its executed so people wont hit the button 15 times while hes repulsing and end up doing 15 consecutive repulses lol) it works pretty good.. if i do this..

saber repulse
wait 10
+attack
wait 30
-attack
wait 80
saber starkillerbind F9 exec repulse
and change the repulse saber to the desann style or something and just rewrite all his attacks to be the repulse
the anim needs to look something like this..

k.. im just practicing noses right now.. i wanna do the topology like the ref i posted.. but he has such a huge nose i keep screwing it up.. trial n error im just gunna keep making nose caps n nostrils til i get one about right might take me a while
