It could be a mod you have installed breaking it, or while changing the shaders you have accidentally left out the images, as the error messages say. Try moving all mods out of your base folder, and then returning them bit by bit until you discover the problematic one. Edit: This is in the wrong forum. It should be in Technical Support.

That's a little harsh, @@hleV, but you're entitled to your point of view, naturally. My perspective is quite different. I agree with Cloverfield being a terrible movie. But each to their own -- there are those who will love it. Like I said, it all depends on your point of view. You create your own world with who you are, your past experiences, and your interpretation of the artwork. @@eezstreet makes a good point in that as of late Star Wars hasn't been at its shine with most of its stories published, and Disney couldn't do much worse than that even if they tried. I think we should expect to see a fun-filled and lighthearted, new Star Wars adventure that will be different to the original saga, but entertaining nonetheless. It will still be Star Wars, rest assured. It may not match up to the original saga, but it will very likely be better than the prequels -- so we won't be too disappointed.
-
Yep, I've got a plan. We raid the Disney head office, and force them to sign a contract with us to proceed all profits from Frozen 2 to our cause. Then we blackmail them into accepting our terms for a new Star Wars game! And then we are ready to begin development.

And the world would never have found out that the Earth isn't flat, had Christopher Columbus not defied everyone else's thinking and took his own approach to seek adventure and find new discoveries. Boldness in imagination followed by a strong conviction pays off, more often than not. Visions connected to our beliefs cannot be delusions. There are two realms: the creator's world that an artwork presents, and the world that we create around the artwork as we experience it. The latter is more important to us than the former, as this is the reality we are living -- this is what connects us to the artwork. Therefore, whether we like it or not, our own imagination always plays a part in experiencing a movie (or any other form of artwork). We are always interpreting, adapting what we like, and rejecting what we don't like. Creating fantastical details that might not have been intended by the creator(s) at all. If we didn't, every movie would feel more or less the same, and none of these stories would feel truly connected to us. So I say let there be boldness of imagination! Let's not eat every spoon of bitterness that is fed to us, but live free of restraint. Parallel or alternative storylines? Why not? Different interpretations of same events? Sure. It all depends on your point of view.

[Mapping Project] The Multi-Mapper Jedi Temple !
Cerez replied to RJA's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
What an interesting suggestion! I take it that this is a new Jedi Temple building of an original design? I wonder if a project like this could be set up to (re-)create the massive Jedi Council building on Coruscant, and if JKA would be able to handle a map of that scale. I know @ had issues implementing the full scale of the Senate building... -
A rare behind the scenes commentary for an episode at the end of season 3 of The Clone Wars TV show with the director, Dave Filoni, that I found serves as a nice prelude of things to come in Rebels, with Darth Vader vs. Ahsoka Tano: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j39FuCVI_70 The scene referred to here is one where we see Ahsoka for the first time genuinely thank her Master for training her, in a traditional Padawan to Master, Jedi conduct. As anyone who has watched the show will know, the two of them rarely adhered to tradition, and this is a really beautiful, warm highlight in their student-teacher relationship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fen1Z4aORM&feature=youtu.be&t=19m30s

If that's true, I won't be watching this movie. They can't just ditch years of stories and a huge fan-base for a completely new take without preserving the original characters and main events! That would be just downright awful. If that's the new direction that Disney is taking, then I'm willing to say bye-bye to the new Star Wars, and just stick with the old stories. In that case, f**k their new universe, it's not canon to me!!! But somehow I'm really doubtful that that's the case...
-
Then you'll thoroughly enjoy the new Star Wars movies, I'm sure, @@Botdra. They'll be good enough to match the fun in the prequels. The producers will make sure of that. Otherwise they would not sell. I sure hope they won't be removing any of the major old content from the Star Wars universe. That would be very disappointing for most long-time Star Wars fans. I'm hoping they will take a new approach with the new story, and make it co-exist with the rough plot-line of the old content in the same universe, but not directly related. That would be the wisest thing to do, I think.

What about Luke's story? It was specifically about him and his relationship with his father, the villain of the story. That's as clear a character driven story arc as you can get. I agree that the prequel movies had very little character drive, and that they still provided action-based fun, regardless, but The Clone Wars series has added character driven stories back into the equation. We got to know all the character we just glanced a glimpse at in the prequel movies -- and who all died on us in the movies very soon after. And that felt so much richer -- at least to me...

If you mean the KOTOR cutscenes, that won't help much. The story of KOTOR is mostly in the gameplay, when you converse with different characters. Fortunately the very first level, after you leave the ship you start on is Taris, the Sith garrisoned world, so a few hours spent with the game or a detailed play-through video on YouTube would give you quite a few ideas on how to approach this in your own story, at least from the civilians'/residents' perspective. I still say The Clone Wars is the quickest and most effective way to get an insight into aspects of Star Wars plot construction and world details, however. In just an hour or two you'll have all the information you need to construct your own story. To me it's a priceless resource -- as well as loads of fun.
-
Hm... I actually disagree with that. The original trilogy movies had great character development, as well as storytelling, which is what makes them stand out from the prequels so much, and some of The Clone Wars (2008) TV series has also managed to re-capture that, especially towards the end -- which is why I love it so much. I would expect something similar to the Star Trek reboot with the new Star Wars movies, as well. It'll be good Hollywood fun, but I'm not sure if it will stand the test of time as the original saga did.
-
Well, if you ask me he didn't do too badly with Star Trek. He does understand how sci-fi and suspense works. My gripe is actually with his shallow characterisation, but a lot of that depends on the script writer(s), I guess. So far he hasn't left much time for character development in his movies. He seems to be more focused on storytelling through action, which basically follows along the same lines as the prequel movies. I felt this particularly strong in Star Trek, since in the stories of Star Trek the characters and personal conflicts have always been an integral part of the experience, and not so in his new movie (although I haven't seen Into Darkness).

Yep, the handle is looking like a good wood base texture. And the text is looking much more in shape, now. Feel free to look up some video tutorials on GIMP on YouTube, @@IrocJeff. There are plenty, and they are quite fun, actually. I would look for "layer effects" and "textures" combined with "GIMP" as search keywords. Additionally, if you really get stuck, you can ask for help on the GIMP forums: http://gimpforums.com/

Well, technically we would be doing the public a big service by creating a new, independent Star Wars game. But the problem is with the licensing. Disney would quickly jump on us, if this made it through as a successful new game that was financed, to make it worse. Unless we could actually obtain a license from the money we've raised... Perhaps we could present ourselves as an online based game development studio? To Disney, I mean. I'm not sure how much it would cost to license a new Star Wars game with them... Some of them look quite nice. Rogue Jedi --> Rogue One, anyone?

I use both Silo (for modelling) and 3DS Max (for weighting), @@Wystan. I have used Blender for importing models to study weighting, but I'm not familiar with Blender as a tool for modelling. @@Veosar, on second thought, adding a simple object like this to your model would be a good, simple first tutorial into modelling. You should take this opportunity to better your skills. It will teach you the basics of creating a 3D mesh, UV unwrapping it, and weighting it to a bone. I actually think it would be a good idea if you took it as a creative challenge for yourself. There are plenty of tutorials both here on JKHub and on YouTube on how to use Blender, and how go through this process, and you already have reference material to work with, as well as a basic understanding of how Blender works. I think you should go for it.

As long as the story is good, I think we will be able to forgive any fancy Hollywood makeup -- as long as it doesn't get in the way of a good story. So far Abrams has not disappointed with his choice of scripts, so there's hope that the new main features will hold up with the prequels. I'm not sure about Rogue One. Has it been announced who will direct it?
-
There's a good chance they may be better than the prequels, at least the feature movies (like The Force Awakens), but I am certain we will never have the direction that the original trilogy has given again. That would take a lot more than today's Hollywood to produce. And Disney is not about quality movies these days, either. It's certainly not like in the days Walt Disney had started it. Still, I bet it will be fun, regardless -- until we get sick of the new formula...
-
Yes, however, even on Taris (in KOTOR) many of the locals had felt they had been stripped of their freedom, and put under, with resources allocated primarily to the Sith troops, and not to the citizens, and Sith ideals and vigilant order imposed upon the population.

Most likely this is a firewall issue. Do you have any Internet security system installed? See if you can temporarily disable its firewall and allow all traffic in and out, and see if the game starts to work. If it does, you'll need to add exceptions to the game's ports/traffic in your firewall after you re-enable it. If it's not a firewall restriction issue, then re-installing the game may also help fix the problem, or quitting applications running in the background (which is not easy to do on Windows) before you run Steam.
-
If you have the source file, and it is a 3DS Max file, I may be able to help you with this, @@Veosar. We'll need to add a new object to the model, as @@eezstreet has correctly said, UV unwrap it, and weight it to the torso.
-
Yep, that sounds like the regular Disney production schedule. They've been doing this with their own movies for a long time, now. When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, I knew this would be coming. Star Wars will be a regular theme park, now. It will be more popular than ever, but I wonder at what cost...
-
I'm not sure what you mean by adding a layer to the cylinder, but what I mean is you should simply update your texture image to have the text stretched to match the stretching ratio of the texture when applied to the cylinder. That way the text will appear normal on the cylinder. You should be able to just refresh/update the material used in Blender, not have to go through the adding/applying process again. This will make live tweaking the textures a lot easier.
-
When you modify the source code, you're just doing that. In order to apply the changes to your game, you will need to compile/build the source code into an executable (EXE/app). Follow these instructions to compile/build your customised source: https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/wiki/Compilation-guide When you are done compiling, you will find your built files in the "build" folder. You will need to copy/move these files to the appropriate location in your installed game directory. Most of them go into "GameData" (just above "base").
-
It's simply that your text is in a realistic proportion, while the texture is stretched across the model. You have to count with the stretching and stretch your text to match the ratio, so that it looks normal size on the model, not on the texture image. This is something quite common you'll encounter with model texturing. I have just spent 4 hours fixing a clip on the boots of my model to match the rest of the layout of the texture on the model, and stay straight (though this was by far the most extreme case I've encountered)...

@@IrocJeff, I just realised I left out an important one, part of the battle of Ryloth: Supply Lines (S03E03) It deals with the supply shortages I've mentioned earlier, and a battle against all odds from the uprising/rebel side.
