  1. You aren't missing much, I hear Risen is a shit game. I don't know what Foxtel is, but if it's anything related to TV, Xbox One sounds like a decent option, since it's more TV oriented. No word on the proce of XBone though.
  2. Does it work on your laptop?
  3. https://github.com/Razish/OpenJK/issues/274
  4. Happens to all of us, friend.
  5. Oh you're from Australia? That sucks.
  6. It's based on preference. Really the default stuff that ships with it is fine, but you're really encouraged to look at it yourself. Most of the fields are self-explanatory.
  7. Yes, but that's not to say that they won't be forcing you to buy specific ones which work with the console. Also in the past there were known limits -> you could only have as high as 32GB on an external drive.
  8. The internal hard drive is no longer replaceable: http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-hard-drive/
  9. They can always download the files as zip The option is right there on the main page.
  10. I could've sworn there was a thread just like this. I tried looking for it though but I couldn't find it.
  11. You need the shaders.
  12. Isn't it ironic that EB Games, a used game retailer, is all over the Xbox One?
  13. I find it offensive that their new slogan for tablets is "Less talking, more doing".
  14. Why play games and watch movies on a device that charges you a monthly fee to play games online? Seems pretty clear cut that the PS4 is a better choice, and a lot of the exclusives for PS4 sound really good, like Diablo 3 (NO MORE REAL MONEY AUCTION HOUSE OR FORCED ONLINE MODE WOOT) and Drive Club (finally, a game that does this sort of thing well..). Microsoft exclusives on the other hand... another entry in the tired Halo and Gears of War series. Or I guess the rather timid Alan Wake. Or wait, that game where it was basically just all walking and stuff? Yeah, that one. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. My money is with Sony on movies as well, since they are, among things, a dedicated DVD/Blu-Ray player manufacturer. I'm more convinced that they know their stuff there in comparison to Microsoft, seeing as how they've been in the movie business for a very long time indeed. Also not to mention that the PS3 had Blu-Ray first, mind you :> Also yeah, it's probably a paid service in order to have access to Hulu or Netflix, but I don't know the specifics of that. Also, let's not forget the Xbox Live ads that they throw at you :S Plenty of good reasons to make the switch, if you ask me.
  15. Sony is also: 1. a record company 2. a software company 3. a MP3 player/media player company 4. a company that makes DVD players Literally everything I've mentioned here, plus a gaming console build company, would work under the principle of the patent. It's kinda hasty to assume that this patent has anything to do with the PS4. Also, wikipedia provided me with some links: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-21-sony-tells-eurogamer-playstation-4-will-not-block-used-games
  16. Semi bump, just going to comment that the source is a lot more refined now, and we're interested to see what the community can come up with. So go ahead and fork today! etc
  17. Wrong, he's always been prone to the Xbox 360. In his Metro: Last Light review he was clearly using a 360 controller, and he always does PC to Xbox comparisons. He even talked about going to PC over just buying a PS4. Zero evidence that the PS4 doesn't support used games. Sony said outright that the PS4 will play used games despite them creating a patent to the contrary. I have a few reasons why this might be: 1. To throw off Microsoft and convince them to do it "as well" 2. To prevent anyone else from doing this, because it's evil. It was never mentioned in the actual reveal. A Microsoft interviewer after the show confirmed no used games, and a Polygon article confirmed always online. Aldo there's that Micheal Ork prick too, which is enough evidence on its own merit. Speaking of Angry Joe, check out how frustrating of a time he had with Kinect Star Wars and Sonic Freeriders Fair enough.
  18. guise guise I recommend seeing the Angry Joe segment on the Xbox One. That is all. DT: Name one reason why you'd get an Xbox One instead of a PS4. Go.
  19. meanwhile http://images.vg247.com/current//2013/02/Crysis-3-1.jpg But no, I want some gameplay videos please.
  20. I think there's a number of people that are working on these "fresh" new weapons. The OpenJK Asset Recreation project will likely be doing this. Consult @@Silverfang and @BlackResuru about it, I asked them a long time ago to get cracking on something like this.
  21. Question: If the Xbox One is supposed to be an all-in-one platform and provide me with cable TV/Netflix/all that, then why isn't Microsoft an ISP? After all, it provides cable TV but requires Internet... What about all the more money I'm going to be spending by not bundling cable/internet/phone OR being forced to pay a monthly fee for a service that I don't use at any rate. Food for thought. PS3 had the ability to download things in the background, ergo not at all revolutionary. Thing is, they break it into cores, and each core only clocks at half the speed of an Xbox 360. An app has to be multithreaded in order to take advantage of the cores properly, and you also have to consider that, being an APU type architecture, the cores are shared between GPU and CPU in a sense. I'm lead on to believe that this is patently false at any rate, PS4 and Xbox One have the same number and type of cores. There's no evidence as far as I can tell that the processor in either one is better or worse than the other, as they're both labelled as "8-core AMD APU". Real descriptive, that. Memory is a lot more important than you think. Consoles have always been hampered with poor memory problems, as many console devs have told me. Once you figure that the PS4 has GDDR5 RAM, and the Xbox One reserves 3GB of RAM for OS/dashboard specific stuff (so really the 8GB is a misnomer, games can only take advantage of the 5GB), it becomes obvious why everyone is bitching about the RAM issue on the Xbox One. PS4 I don't think reserves the 3GB for OS stuff, but then again it might (but then again, it also isn't running 3 bloody OSes on the same console). Or so you think. It could just be a case or 3D printed design for all we know. There's no video evidence of them turning on the console and using it, to my knowledge, just some gameplay videos, I think. What they've said about the matter suggests that reselling will be limited to Xbox Live or GameStop, and people will pay a small fee to compensate. So no more trading games with friends, etc. Just what we need...Angry Birds for consoles. No word on how much it costs, though, so for all we know it might not be the case. Though, new Windows/Android (going to ignore Apple's overpriced nonsense for a sec here) phones sell for like what, $299 now? Those also use the concept of an APU if I'm not mistaken, and have a lot less storage space, memory and so on. I'm hesitant to claim that it'll be any less than $500 for any next-gen console aside from Wii [f]U[ck this shit] Possibly, but see what I wrote above. Worked fine with the PSP Go. Nobody bought the Go though because of the big mobile phone thing. loel sports gaems Yeah, the Xbox 360 controller can feel big after a while. My sister complains that it's too big, but I have bigger hands than her, so.. yeah. I like how they actually made the controller bigger instead of smaller. Real good listening to consumer feedback there, Mikersoft. Actually looks pretty decent compared to MW3, and again, it isn't an Xbox exclusive. --------------- I'd like to add another con to this list: - Paid Internet usage (Xbox Live Gold) still mandatory Playstation Plus was an extreme bargain for people that paid for it..as I can recall, you got 12 free games instantly after signing up, and those games cycle and you get new games all the time. The longer you're a member, the more free games you get. And these aren't like small games either, as I recall they gave out copies of PAYDAY: The Heist and LittleBigPlanet. Also you got pretty awesome bargains for games on PSN and some exclusive content, but not much. Also Playstation Plus got you some DLC for free.
  22. In that regard, yeah, pretty much. Though I do feel that a lot of the general look was based off of PS4 if you ask me. Frankly, they should be spending their time on other things, but that's just me. I felt like they really focused on stuff that isn't important to gamers, like these voice gimmicks, Kinect and so forth. Hm, I thought it had to do with its ability to multitask. They explicitly mentioned that players would be able to "watch a movie or television show on Netflix while a game lobby is being prepared" or something to that effect. Which made me wonder, what game takes so long to prepare a game lobby that you can do that, or, what television show is that short? I think I'm liking the changes in Ghost honestly a lot more than any other games, but it really feels like people are focusing on the graphics. /me reminds you to remember which game company is being Infinity Ward's bitch :x Quake 3 is often praised for its high amount of customization in the game, down to stuff like your Railgun projectile color (which I don't think any other game has come anywhere close to how cool that is, really). I think based on that, it'll get a good amount of praise.
  23. Try 3 months worth of time, and then some, as they still haven't (to my knowledge) shown a real copy of the machine yet, just renders of what it looks like. I can agree with this notion. However talking isn't exactly a reliable form of accessing the console, because background noise, etc etc etc What practical purpose does switching to Netflix to watch a movie while waiting on a game serve? Are people really that ADHD that they need to do something while a game loads or is waiting on something? Seriously? I care more about gameplay than I do about graphics. Lots of people care about gameplay. That's what made Notch into a millionaire, so I assume that lots of people care more about gameplay than silly graphics enhancements. Why do you think indie games are becoming popular? Because people are waking up and realizing that there's more to a game than OOOO SHINY GRAFIX. Also, there was character customization in Black Ops 1/2 to my knowledge (1 for sure had the ability to customize face paint and outfit for different teams), and customizing your loadout is sorta part of the whole character customization thing. I like good things, not bad things. Xbox One bad, PS4 good.
  24. XBOX One confirmed to require an internet connection in order to work as seen in the fine print at the bottom of this page: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xboxone/meet-xbox-one Whatever the hell "advanced TV hardware" is, I have no clue.
