Can someone give me a tutorial on how to port a model into the game?

Hi! I have a model of SWTFU Sith Assassin outfit, I have questions on

  • 1) If im allowed to port this model into the game, since im unsure if it's ripped directly from the assets or made on it's own (I downloaded it from an SFM model site)
  • 2) How i can put it in the game if it is allowed. The model is in OBJ format if that helps.
  • 3)What programs i should have if i wanted to edit it, all i currently have is blender.

I'm completely inexperienced when it comes to modding, and since i don't have enough points to make this a request i'll try and do this myself (Which will go very well obviously).

A good start would probably be downloading this, if you haven't already. Put the .zip in your plugins folder. You aren't allowed to upload ports to the files section, but you can put links to a download in these forums. Be warned though, some people do frown upon ports.

1)99% chance it's been ripped, no one makes models anymore. Apparently 3d modeling is not a rewarding process, it's hard work and being creative sucks!

2)OBJ is fine it's pretty much standard across all 3d apps.

3)XSI Mod Tool, Blender or 3Ds Max

Check the tutorials section for guides.
Advice: before you start working on a ripped model, start by rigging a simple model made out of primitive objects, it'll keep frustrations low as you learn the process.
