Framerate dropping

I have a problem with my framerate dropping in and out every couple of seconds. I saw on the Steam forums that this problem is fairly common and I was wondering if anyone here has a fix for it.

Jedi Academy was my favorite game, and I played it every day for 10 years. I wrote modding tutorials as essays for college and everything. Now I don't know what to do

Mate, constantly bumping the post isn't gonna help.

One thing that will help is telling us some details: Have you got OpenJK? Are you running any programs in the background? Have you tried reinstalling JKA?

I do have OpenJK 

 

I do not have anything else running

 

And I have not tried reinstalling. The version of OpenJK I am using is the only one I've found online that completely remedies the NPC capacity problem.
