  1. Here's an update on the new console/dashboard:
  2. Ok... so after Googling cockpit layouts for ideas-- I've sketched out these two concepts: I'm planning to go with #2.
  3. Just load up the model and JK2 skeleton then, remove the JK2 specific bones (mostly fingers and facial bones) from the skin modifiers and re-weight the mesh as needed to the bones that carry over into JK3.
  4. So what is your wishlist for Carcass changes? What was the other thing we said needing fixing-- I posted it on here somewhere... maybe bring this up again in the Carcass discussion thread.
  5. @@Raven, yeah, I can look at the Moldy Crow for certain aspects... @@AshuraDX, @@DT85... I'm not liking the new concept I have above... I think I'll ditch the curved dashboard and go with a more trapezoidal shape. But I'm open to any suggestions.
  6. But do you like the curvature on each side of the dashboard? Or do you think it should be more flat/trapezoidal ( given the Raven Claw's hard edge outer mold line design)? Now I'm leaning towards trapezoidal...
  7. So here's what I have so far on the new dashboard concept: I still need to revise all of the display panels...
  8. Could you do the same to have it support static (animated) GLM models (what @@DT85 made possible)?
  9. Ok... so I have a new concept for the dashboard/console and will begin making the changes this evening.
  10. Ok... so this evening I made a quick review of all six episodes to study various cockpit layouts. Below are screenshots of various cockpit elements from each episode. Episode 1: Episode 2: Episode 3: (pay attention and you'll see they recycle Anakin's targeting scope above into Vader's TIE fighter in Ep4... nice idea as this is the forerunner to the TIE fighter). Episode 4: Episode 5: (there's already been plenty of Falcon cockpit console pics posted, so I won't repeat any here. I will add that 3ds Max users can download a full Millenium Falcon & E-Wing cocpkit here: http://scifi3d.com/list.asp?intGenreID=10&intCatID=10 ). Taking this all into account-- one thing I see in my cockpit design that is too reflective of current military tech, is the Multi-Function Displays with the buttons along the sides-- but that is easy to remedy, as well as modifying the shape so that it isn't quite rectangular. But in the screenshots above, I did see: foot pedal controls, various style yokes and grips, various throttles (some not unlike what I have, ref. Anakin's yellow speeder). I don't plan to change the current seat... but I will be conceptualizing changes to the dashboard console. ...so stay tuned.
  11. Laughable-- these look like they're either band-aids or breathe-right nose strips:
  12. Would someone post some good pics of the Endor shuttle cockpit when Han and Chewie are flying it? EDIT: After work today... I will dive thru all 6 Star Wars movies and take screenshots of all the various cockpits for further study.
  13. Quick Update: So I've modeled a concept for the Throttle Quadrant...
  14. Maybe Rich Whitehouse or Gil Grib? Gil is one of the original Raven coders... who works elsewhere now... is he active on jacoders irc? I have his email I can send you.
  15. I think I will follow your suggestion and just go with the lap belt-- that would simplify animations in the cockpit.
  16. Quick update ( @@eezstreet ): So I deleted the side-arm controllers and replaced them with a chrome steering yoke (...is the chrome too much? Or should I make them black?). I also made better air vents. Now it's starting to look more like a cockpit. Here's what I'm planning next: Feedback is welcome...
  17. I suppose... but I was leaning towards a harness like this: I think this latest seat looks pretty good with the cockpit: Now I just need to make a single center-control steering yoke coming out of lower console, and a center throttle quadrant (similar to Falcon throttles) between the seats.
  18. Ok... so I think this looks similar enough to the Falcon's pilot/co-pilot seats, yet still a bit unique. The bulge on the back shell contains the inertia-reel harness and the two shoulder straps will come out of there and pass thru the bottom of the head rest on the seat. I also still need to make the lap belt pass thru on the sides.
  19. I'm just meaning that there are other reasons/desired modifications that desire to not lock the X&Y dims of the BBox.
  20. He means like his you created only a GLM head for showing him in-game. And I think he means "importing only bits & pieces yo make a Frankenstein.
  21. @@DT85 posted/requested somewhere about not locking the X & Y bounding box dimensions and demo'd a simple code mod to allow different X & Y bbox values. Wouldn't that work here???
  22. A marriage of the two forms then... something more like the Falcon seats.
  23. Ok... so I revised the racing seat a bit. Here are some comparison screenshots: I still need to model a bottom cushion... and remake the pass-thru holes for the harness-- but is the new racing seat headed in the right direction?
  24. he needs a bit more blending with a subdermal "blood" layer-- he's too pale. I'll keep searching for a good solution for better beards. Would you post a 3dsMax screenshot of your beard strips?
  25. Hmmm... can you create a normal map from 3dsMax Hair&Fur modifier?
