I just finished this mod and it is very fun... in the first few levels. The reason i say this is because in the first few levels, the challenge is fair and it wracks your brain a little to think of the solutions. Unfortunately, for me the challenge in the last few levels is completely unreasonable, bordering on cheap deaths and unfair level design. If the game did not have a quick save feature, i would not have continued until the end. In the last level for example, there is a platforming segment that you need to jump on, thing is. the area is so dark you cannot see the platform and must make a leap of faith. the worst part about this, is that its not the first, second or even third time that happens. The worst offender though, is the fact that the levels are sometimes so dark, even on the highest brightness, i had to resort to using a ROCKET LAUNCHER to feel my way around a level and look for keys in a dark area. The constant darkness is a constant problem and will affect your entire game play experience. for me, the game had become a chore when i had reached these segments. I should not be made to feel around a level to find a hidden passage that is require to continue, in an extremely dark environment. The second thing you need to know about this mod is that the odds are completely stacked against you. The later stages have advanced shadow troopers that can take up to 4-5 Red style hits to take down. and oh. there is about 6 of them at a time. MINIMUM. and they have Dark Rage that makes them unable to actually be killed until its over, Dark rage also allows the user to cancel Parry and can slice through you instantly. Jet pack troopers can also be a massive issue if you dont understand the basics of the engine and will be after you. Pros: Challenging Gameplay Fun Level Design Excellent Music Fairly well acted (for a person who isnt natively English) Fair amount of variety in gameplay Cons: Immensely Dark Bad NPC placement Unfair in the last few levels Ending is lacklustre Will test your Patience Conclusion: In conclusion, ECM 3 is an enjoyable mod, it will push your patience button and make you want to put your mouse and keyboard through a meat grinder. If you do play this mod, be prepared to see the " You Died " Message more times than Dark souls. You will feel like you need to keep playing and i implore you to do so. Just dont rage too hard when you can't see what you are doing. Rating: 7/10 Needs more lighting and better NPC placement.
