  1. People could submit original assets that could be used to replace the base. I assume this has to do with total-conversion mods? I think it could serve a good purpose here too, probably mostly when it comes to assets used in maps (which is the main aim here). While there's not anything in the way of making and submitting animations, menus and maps, I think people who made standalone mods or other things that require all-new assets would prefer to make animations, menus and maps (etc) specific to their mod. Projects like replacing all animations are welcome, but I suspect it may be just as relevant to be put somewhere on JKHub directly. The main area I've had in mind is for all sorts of assets that could be used in your modding as an alternative to either the base assets, or as an alternative to porting assets, or modifying various googled content.
  2. I'm not quite sure what you mean here though, as the mapping site is a collection of links to tutorials and guides. Personally, I think it would be best to have a forum-feel to it, but implemented with features like I described above, and made in a way that makes it easy to look through submissions and resources. So I don't think it could function in that way by just being a sub-forum here, unless undergoing further modification (not Zappa-reference). But I don't wanna *decide* As long as it feels like a place where you can go and browse for assets, request assets and possibly like a place that could serve as a training arena for making these things. You don't often see threads in the Wip/teaser section about grass textures or map objects like benches.
  3. Yeah, try what you said first. If pictures of the buildings is good enough, that's a more frame-friendly alternative than actual geometry in the distance. In any case, area portals block geometry behind them from being drawn by the engine.
  4. You might be able to play around with area portals/other VIS-related methods to hide the buildings in the skyboxes where they shouldn't be seen. I've been able to hide geometry in neighbouring skyboxes using (untargetted) area portals before, but it wasn't without some experimentation.
  5. It would provide a little arena for sharing resources and WIPs, so it would be a good thing while this is coming together. I was thinking of eventually following up what I proposed, by asking for that free webhosting service. I was prepared to look for people to ask to help make the website and do more of a recruitment-job, but to my surprise JKHub offers: Does anyone know how easy it would be to implement features that allow, for example, tiling of pictures and looping of sounds on a website? As for models, Sketchfab could be used. Animations are not yet supported (but "are on the roadmap").

  7. I have a nice idle animation. Walk cycles are infinitely much harder though, I realized. It also revealed all the problems with the geometry and weighting on this model, and I've fixed some of them. Other than that, it's still very visible how this isn't a very good animation, nor a particularly ideal mesh or even rig! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DziPFh-Y3BI
  8. Very cool. Once again, I'd really love to try it out. Been trying to sneak onto JKG's IRC a few times, in case of a chance . Might do that again, once in a while.
  9. JKG is doing a direction based attack/block system as well. How does JKG's saber gameplay differentiate from Serenity's?
  10. Thanks for your review of my review And for the second tutorial! I don't know how many others read this thread, but I encourage you to try the mod and give Serenity feedback. Might provide very different experiences than I had!
  11. A while back I tried to make a picture reflect the room. But it never worked out quite how I wanted it using this method, and I really never got back to it. You said "no transparency", but did you mean transparent and reflective, or just reflective? Here's a screenshot I found:
  12. Any modelers know what could be wrong in my IK chain here? Don't wanna re-weight atm!

An up vector constraint can help but it isn't necessary.

Ahhh I see.. so I was on the right path, just completely wrong XD

      Thanks both!

Minilogo, that really did the trick! Thank you. The more I bent the leg before IK chaining it, the better the results. :)

  13. Just a casual question - how interested are JKHub in the JK2 community? I think hardly any JK2 1.02 player knows about JKHub, or would care much currently if they did. Except myself. The JK2 community has a more or less functional forum (http://jk2ffa.freeforums.org/), but it's not very active and unfortunately very trolly.
  14. Here's the new videos I made, it ended up a bit longer than I expected, so split into two parts by twitch.tv. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhQ3N_J4Q1s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5-rsTMUqhU
  15. Yes I will! Is there a console command to set the timescale? "timescale" doesn't work here. The console prints nothing, so can't see any syntax feedback when trying to find it. It's much easier than going to the Advanced menu every time you want to practice in slow motion, since it resets upon loading the game.
  16. But how often can you reset it? Can't you reset it every time the opponent hits, and always have successful blocks? Just worried it would take attention away from the manual blocking. And thanks!
  17. Cool! I was a bit confused by one thing though. Why is there automatic blocking? Wouldn't it almost always be more efficient than manual blocking, if you only have to simply press block every time before they attack? What's the name of that reborn NPC, by the way?
  18. He included the download link in the first post of the thread.
  19. It should be enabled during beta at the very least, or the saber skill should be set high enough to block hits that "should" work
  20. Hmm, but it doesn't seem to respond at all when I try to use cheats.
  21. That's very useful information! I'll play around with the newly acquired knowledge. Interesting. Even when knowing all these things though, I still feel there are a few things could be cleaned up, like as I mentioned when the enemy seemingly out of nowhere does an instant counter, and all the instant-death related things. It also seemed that when Tavion was merely touching my saber without attacking, mine bounced back as if she would have hit. I'll look more into this though. It just seemed problematic to be awaiting a move from the enemy if their saber was crossing yours. I seem to remember I liked better the animations and the "cleanlyness" (don't know how else to put it) of EoC. What would you say the main differences are between SJE and EoC, if put very shortly? EDIT: I just noticed now I did an INSANE totally random block at 14:21 in the video. Don't even know how to block behind your back. Can't stop laughing.
  22. I've given you some feedback before, but I decided to stream myself playing this, with some clumsy commentary, and uploaded it to youtube. Hopefully it's not too long for you to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZVqi3uk_ak tl;dw - Some animations could be improved, some personally undesirable things happening in the saber combat such as being stunned. Some days ago I tried the EoC for multiplayer and I really liked it, thought it was much better to fight in than this. A lot smoother, and possible to fight with as long as the bots don't do special moves which they unfortunately do very often though. But why are SJE and EoC so different?
  23. Oh man, I just noticed this feature is already here, on the right side of the quote. So sorry, haha. How inattentive of me. I will not be offended if you recycle this topic.
  24. Ah no, I mean right here in this quote. If what you just said had been on a previous page, all I'd have to do to read the full post you made, would be to click the "SiLink, on 08 Jan 2014 - 09:35 AM, said" link. Then I would be taken to the page it was written on, and it would display that post. Many forums have this feature, so I often catch myself clicking the top of the quote to skip to the quoted post in this forum too.
