  1. Eww, that second video looks like they imported the JKA models at the highest LOD. Do not want. I'm glad to see that Raven's Claw animation, that was really cool.
  2. Just a general tip here: most people I know don't use an IDE plugin or whatever for Git. Most people I know (myself included) use the terminal for it, since it is a lot faster and easier to figure out what is what. A lot of people also use different GUI tools. I can't remember what they all arem Also, you'll want to get kdiff3 on both computers, and set it as your mergetool. Or if you feel like shelling out the extra $$$, get Beyond Compare.

  10. You have to recompile the code on the OS that you're going to be targetting. Unfortunately, Linux/Mac (but Mac especially) are a lot more difficult to compile for. Windows has coding down in a nice little package, and Linux on the other hand...you have to usually compile via terminal or use one of the few (and dodgy for that matter) GUI tools for compiling. Also, not all of the code is very compatible, as there isn't one agreed-upon standard for C across platforms.
  11. Yeah, it was called JK4 back in the day. The mod went along with the story if Jaden had fallen to the dark side. Their demo mission looks like it exhibited decent level design skills, unfortunately I have no idea what became of it. (I also helped design the layout of the level, way back in the day, as I recall)

  14. If I were you, I'd be looking into integrating it into the site somehow.   15. The unofficial IRC never took off for this reason precisely. It wasn't integrated with the site, and nobody (not even the staff) would join. It makes me sad.
  16. It's all good. You do have a good idea for a tut though, with the item thing. I might make a tut for that (should be easy-ish compared to force powers and weapons)
  17. Items and pickups are the same thing? Also, weapons also constitute pickups (it's covered in the tut I believe)
  18. Yesterday, I received a reply from Raven Software which confirms that the JKA/2 source code is not ever being put back up. Consider ourselves lucky. Me: "source code down forever?" Ra: "yes, that is my understanding"
  19. The two tutorials have been approved, just an update for you guys.

LA getting shut down was good news to me, mostly because I figured that the source release might happen (and it did), and we would see great new titles from third party developers (which has also happened). If you consider the B-grade crap that LA has been shoveling out lately (Star Wars Kinect and TFU 2), it's not hard to miss anything when that was their future. I predict that once the new movies come out, we will see a very aggressive push by Disney to get more third party developers (not just EA) on board.
