I've played Skyrim as well as Breath of the Wild. The map of Breath of the Wild is not only larger than Skyrim, it's INSANE! Whenever you think you've already visited something, you always find something new.

The ingame map might look small at first, but once you zoom in

It's not the size of it but how you use it.

I have a hard time believing that Wind Waker is smaller than Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, it takes fore-fucking-ever to get from Point A to Point B in Wind Waker. Ocarina of Time is pretty small though. Twilight Princess? Sure it's big, but I really have a hard time believing that Wind Waker's smaller than both games.

Perhaps movement speed is a factor there too.
