Archangel35757 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 With the advent of the DF2 Rend2 renderer... thanks to @@DT85, @@Xycaleth, @@SomaZ (and others who've contributed...), Level Design Artists now have the opportunity to learn next-gen mapping techniques and workflows using Physically-Based Rendering (PBR) and Imaged-Based Lighting (IBL). So I thought I would start a new topic that had Level Design tutorials (maybe not specific to our game engine) using these new features. Here's one link: http://www.cgmasters.net/free-tutorials/what-to-know-when-creating-next-gen-assets/ ...and this site may be a useful educational resource for Level Design: http://worldofleveldesign.com/categories/cat_level_design_tutorials_tips.php Others, feel free to post tutorials and topics, resources, etc. that will help the Level Designers in our community to transition to these next-gen workflows. minilogoguy18 likes this
minilogoguy18 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Probably need one for modeling too but it's generally not too far off, it's just textures and shaders. There are so many things being frankenstiened right now and the people doing it aren't realizing they're building stuff in 2017 using 2004 tech, they're way behind, the renderer for JA is undergoing a serious overhaul and being thrust over a decade into the future. The stuff being made now will work in the new renderer but it's not going to look so great when put next to the stuff being worked on to go with the new render engine. Archangel35757 likes this
