CaptainChar Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 I've browsed along, and believe it or not, I might start dabbing my hand into modelling, specificly gun models, most of you know ive been busy making GoldenEye maps, from the nintiendo 64 game, my maps come with an asset that gives all the guns in the game souns based off Goldeneye, but heres the thing, I needs guns... so I either gotta learn how to do this, or ask others for help
Astral Serpent Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Modelling is a black magic, for such an old game blood sacrifices are required. Are you sure you want to delve into such evils? The old and ancient demon gods of modelling do not share their knowledge to just anyone, at least, not the deepest of secrets...Inyri Forge, the goddess of pain and suffering, does have a few tutorials on saber modelling, you can start there. http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/39-how-to-make-a-lightsaber-hilt/http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/43-lightsaber-modelling/http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/35-gmax-uv-mapping/http://jkhub.org/tutorials/article/38-simple-sword-modelling/these being in:http://jkhub.org/tutorials/category/13-modelling/ therfiles likes this
minilogoguy18 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 ^I'll tell anyone anything they want to know and I've been in the game since '04, all you have to do is ask. You should go for it, weapon modeling is incredibly simple, well maybe not simple to get super high quality art but the part of getting in game is a breeze. Start by actually learning the program and how to model before diving right into trying to get something in game though.
CaptainChar Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 well I suggest using the Nintendo 64 as a learning media, for not only simplisic maps, but simplisic models as well, my GoldenEye Project has taught me advanced lighting, icarus scripting, and bot routing so far If I can learn weapon modelling, then its one less thing to have to ask other modders for, sure id like to look like an HD version of the original, not much else, My first attmept will be the moonraker laser over the bowcaster (its what I have the sound setup for, and it fits nicely, if i change the green bolt to blue)
CaptainChar Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 I noticed a minor problem with my plan, its been so many years, im actually having a hard time using 3d max im so used to radient
Inyri Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Lots of folks here to help you out so if you get stuck, ask the question. There are very few dumb questions when it comes to modeling. CaptainChar likes this
CaptainChar Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 well years back, i think i still have the P38 walther model I did ( it was Supposed to be Megatron in his alt form), the walther p38 will be in my goldeneye as the golden gun, since its the only pistol with the shape I need yet can have a stock etc, since I had the golden gun sounds over the concussion rifle >.>
Buz Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I've done saber modelling in the past which is pretty damn easy. Never done gun modelling though. I'm assuming it's pretty damn similar to saber modelling except with weapons/guns you have different tags to deal with.
CaptainChar Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 my biggest problem is ive forgotten how to use 3d max, lol i should have farted around with it more over time >.> i'll figure it out, as long as I dont get distracted by "calibrations"
