Szico VII Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Whats that, looks like a level from 007 nightfire and a different HUD Looks nice tho!
CaptainChar Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 The pc version of 007 Nightfire, It uses a varient of the early souce engine but your village totally made me think of this level
Szico VII Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Ohh right well I own the PS2 version MUG likes this
CaptainChar Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Gamecube and PC but yeah I love snow themed maps, and I cant beleive how well the village runs, it never dips in FPS cept the odd one framerate hear and there, like Ive said, your like, one of JA's mapping gods
Polterninja34 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Just thought I would post about the map quick. I tested it out last night, and literally felt like a modded gtkradiant would be the only way everything looked so.. perfect. Then I realized, a good use of textures, and mixture of lighting, music, and visual effects make this yet another legendary map by Szico VII Well done bro! MUG and Szico VII like this
Szico VII Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Cheers man, nice to hear effort hasn't gone to waste
CaptainChar Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 All Szico maps are legendary, hes JA's Miyamoto

Szico VII Posted September 29, 2012 Author Posted September 29, 2012 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hattori_Hanz%C5%8D Most badass if killbill is to be believed.
TwinHits Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Hey Szico, at some point you mentioned that you made your own caulk shader? Can you explain this, why, and what the differences are?
MUG Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Hey Szico, at some point you mentioned that you made your own caulk shader? Can you explain this, why, and what the differences are?I assume a personal preference thing to change how it looks in Radiant?
Szico VII Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Yeah, because you actually walk through the road patch meshes (to simulate deep snow) - (and apparently the q3map+_material snow) doesn't work on solid patch surfaces either, I needed to make the caulk underneath have that material property, hence the custom shader. Looks identical in radiant though, same editor image. Same goes for the physics clip on some of the outside models like the cave and the lamps e.t.c.
Astral Serpent Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Why has no one hired you to do stuff like this professionally?
Szico VII Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 Why has no one hired you to do stuff like this professionally? Actually, someone did offer me a paid position as a level designer for a (online q3 type game apparently) but had to turn it down as really don't have the time what with med school and girlfriend and everything else that eats away at stuff
The One and Only Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Why has no one hired you to do stuff like this professionally? I've tried, he won't do it.
