Poop Dirty Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Yo! It's great to see that people are still tinkering around with JA modding and such. Fell in love with modding a decade ago as a kid. I'm aspiring to be a game designer, focusing on level design. I plan to eventually move on to more relevant platforms such as Unity, Valve's SDK, and Unreal. Learning code and such along the way. But I find that it is imperative that I rekindle my passion JKA, something I am already familiar with. Look forward to releasing some maps and mods! Raz0r and Boothand like this
Omicron Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Welcome to JKhub, I look foward to seeing you mods
eezstreet Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Hey there. Glad to see someone else interested in game development. Unity, Unreal and Source (source more so) are great ways to accustom yourself to coding video games. They provide instant results sometimes, and are accessible on a large number of platforms. However I much prefer working on my own codebase, as I work with the objects directly instead of abstracted layers. Also, you might be interested to know that Slash is running a programming competition (Slash-a-thon I think it's called). Competitions (I've heard) are great ways to challenge yourself, but I've only ever been to one. Where do you think you'll start?
eezstreet Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 That's more Australian than British, I think. Omicron likes this
