Tempust85 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Ok so I'm trying to put in custom music in my map. The format I first try is: MP3 44KHz 112kb mono and I get a console error saying it's not stereo. So, I then try MP3 44KHz 112kb stereo and I get a console error saying it's stereo. Umm WTF?
Circa Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 This drives me crazy as well. What program are you using to convert?
Tempust85 Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Nero wave editor, and MP3 Pro codec but without MP3 Pro enabled so it's just a standard MP3.

Tempust85 Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 I was told 112KB lol, I'll try that. EDIT: Still says error on stereo.
Circa Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I didn't even catch that. I thought you said 128 before. Sometimes it still doesn't work and you have to convert it a couple times before it actually works. Ticks me off.
CaptainChar Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 sometimes ive had to remove the extra ID3 tags and the song will work fine, another thing ive noticed, some mp3s lack certain data, on windows xp id change it through the sound recorder, I personally use the Audocity sound editor
Darth Martyr Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 My map music is in MP3 44100 Hz Stereo 32-bit float at 128kbps exported with Audacity and it works well. I have had that same error that you're having DT and this format worked like a charm to fix it. Hope this helps!
Tempust85 Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 I'm trying to get the cantina music playing no in the entire level, so I took it out of the dms.dat and just ran it through target_speaker. Now how do I have it only play in the bar, and fade out the more you move away from the bar?
mrwonko Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Regarding mono/stereo: target_speaker sounds need to be mono (after all there's only one speaker) while background music (the music key in worldspawn) has to be stereo. Darth Martyr and Tempust85 like this
