Ping Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Hey, apparently your current captchas are not enough to keep all them bots out. There are two solutions to this: You guys either need to get a better captcha or you need to be more active in deleting bot posts and accounts (the earliest spam post that has yet to be deleted dates from the 8th.) The former is a better and more elegant solution, but in the meantime, or if you guys decide to pick the second solution for whatever reason, I can do the deleting. You can trust me, I'm German. therfiles likes this
Fighter Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 I have noticed this as well. There are plans to add a better anti-spam protection at the same time the software of the wiki is updated, which should be in a few days.

Sorry, this is mostly my fault. I've been trying to keep on top of this but I got sidetracked. Sorry about that! Thank you so much Masta for stopping the spammers. If you go to the wiki now, you will find that the "Recent Changes" page is also spammed - with me blocking them all notices.
Fighter Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 A new captcha was added, however some spambots are still getting around that, so we'll have to find a better anti-spam method.
Ping Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 Yeah we need to do something about that. Also, I don't mean to nag but a speedy deletion of bot posts and accounts should be somewhat of a priority until then.
CrimsonStrife Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I spent some time just now clearing out some bots and pages marked for deletion. Ping and therfiles like this
Mog Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I've done some minor clean up...so I'll pick up the pace and tend to those gardens *Insert joke about FF11 here*
Ping Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 I spent some time just now clearing out some bots and pages marked for deletion.Yeah I've seen that. Well done! But between now and the time of your sweep, 3 more spam posts have creeped up.
CrimsonStrife Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Yeah I've seen that. Well done! But between now and the time of your sweep, 3 more spam posts have creeped up. Well I am not technically an active staff member any longer. I just happened to be in the "neighborhood".
Fighter Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 The anti-spam has been updated to a method that should be much better.
Fighter Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 The anti-spam has been updated to a method that should be much better. It looks like spambots have managed to get past that, too. Updated again to a different thing which hopefully will reduce spam.
Ping Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Sounds good. You might want to delete the following pages to prevent them from showing up in the 'all pages' special page (page page page): http://jkhub.org/wiki/index.php?title=Consulting_A_Texas_Criminal_Lawyer_In_Houston_Texas http://jkhub.org/wiki/index.php?title=The_Best_Way_To_Get_Rid_Of_Cellulite_Naturally
eezstreet Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Doesn't appear to work, and is extremely irritating at that.
