`teh1 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 You guys posted Rich Diesel's tutorial with links to Wayback Machine's pages. These pages are pretty darned slow, so I went ahead and downloaded the source, modified all the links, and put them up on my server. You will find my server to be much, much faster, and the site structure as it should be. The overall user experience should be near the same as before map-craft vanished. Of course, as your tutorial mentioned, a bunch of images are missing. If I get the chance I may just recreate the scenarios myself and snap a shot for some of the missing ones. Your tutorial may be well-off linking to my pages instead, for the user's sake. My website will probably never go down either. :] Web hosting is dirt cheap. Link Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 *raises hand* I was responsible for the use of the Wayback machine since his original site went down with Map-Craft. Thanks for taking the time to download them and upload them, I'm sure one of the staff will sort this soon.
CaptainChar Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 I downloaded them off the wayback and just shoved em into an archieve, the only downfall was a few tutorials are a tad messed up in Microsoft office 2010
`teh1 Posted October 25, 2012 Author Posted October 25, 2012 I went through with find and replace regular expressions and relinked all the URLs to be local to my site, so nothing should link offsite there. Of course that means that all the download links are broken, but that is OK because they are beyond out of date. I am going to rewrite the first couple of tutorials that describe tools needed and give links to GTKRadiant as well as instructions on dealing with PK3 files. I may also cover Automator on OS X to make peoples' lives easier. CaptainChar likes this
`teh1 Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Eh, I could write you a simple script that would convert it to BBcode if I get the full specification. Either way I still prefer the idea of it being on my site. I wouldn't mind the traffic! I have a few products of mine that I need to add to it when I update it that I want people to see/buy. :3
`teh1 Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 FYI I see someone posted an almost full archive of the tutorials from 2010. I will merge that with my version in a few hours. There will no-longer be any missing images! Woo! Caelum and CaptainChar like this
Syko Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 If you guys still want another mirror, I've hosted the site on my Dropbox. It should be just as fast. I didn't host any of the downloads (the programs, documentation and whatnot) Rich Diesal had on his site though, but since I got the site files from 'teh1's mirror, the download links should redirect to his site. The tutorial site files themselves though are hosted on my dropbox though. Anyway, here's the link: http://bit.ly/RichDiesal . My mirror should always stay up as I have it hosted in a folder that I purposely don't delete or move anything from (to prevent broken links).
Sorrow Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hey I was looking around the internet to see if anyone else had Rich Diesels tutorial copied, and this was the only place that was close to having the full set. I had downloaded everything off of his site a long time ago in case it ever went down and it looks like it was a good idea. If you would like I can upload all of the files into a zip and host it somewhere for you to download. It has all of the images, pages, resources from the site. EDIT: http://www.mediafire.com/?ajkq72cqldr1ch7 <-- link to my resources I'm Sorrow from AFL, if any of you guys feel like hanging out we've been looking for excuses to play Jedi Academy more often.
Futuza Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I'm leaving this link here because for some reason searching jkhub rich diesal on google only finds this thread Up to date resource: http://mapping.jkhub.org/richdiesal.htm
Circa Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Thanks Futuza. It's also in the Resources tab of the JKHub bar, part of the new Mapping page.
RAILBACK Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Do we have the COMPLETE university now? Most of these should be finished. Is there more updates? Far as I'm concerned, the college should be complete so it can graduate to university status. Or do I need to find the answers and put them into usable tutorials?

Or do I need to find the answers and put them into usable tutorials?Rich Diesal/Darth G never finished them. If you would like to make additional tutorials, feel free to, if they're decent enough I'm sure we could make them official add ons.
Circa Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 It's not complete, no. I merely restored what they had. I think people should add to it. If anyone wants to type out the remaining tutorials or add new ones, send it to me and I'll add it to the site.
