IrocJeff Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I'm gonna bump this mad old thread up. So basically the Webroot that my ex paid for is about to run out and I'm not about to buy any antivirus, gonna try to go with Avira with the windows firewall combo (win7 x64), is that a decent setup for being totally free? Avira Anti virus and Windows firewall is fine. I use AVG and Windows firewall and don't have issues. I also run Malware Bytes occasionally which is really good as well. But, your not 100% free and clear. You have to make sure you do your windows security updates often. When you download and install programs do you install the add-on software that comes with them like toolbars or other programs? What about your use of file sharing programs, browsing habits? It all adds up and is just as important as an AV program.
minilogoguy18 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I don't use file sharing programs since I've learned from the past that using them is asking for a virus no matter what AV you use. I'm still using Webroot anyway, seems the dumb ho renewed the subscription forgetting that my PC is still on the account. XD
Shadzy Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Minil I recommend MSE and Malware bytes. I myself am using MSE (included in 8 or 8.1) with Malware bytes Pro (Purchased). Catches things and keeps me running slick! Circa likes this
