  1. Although I agree with your overall sentiment with regard to indie devs and that the license shouldn't be sold to bad developers, I'd still say that we haven't had a good SW game since 2005 (republic commando, or 2007 if you want to count lego), so I'd strongly argue that the vast majority of SW games up to date are trash and only made any money at all because of the license. Having said that, I personally am not fuzzed about leaving behind the SW franchise for a good spiritual sequel to JKA - this was, after all, the idea behind compJA.
  2. Yeah, I see. You should consider rewriting them at some point though. It's good stuff and clearly a lot of work has been put into this, but I feel it would be a bit of a shame to leave them like that.
  3. So you guys were founded on the planet Hatrus, which had its own police, army and marines? How is this not fiction? Couching your "history" in fictional terms greatly takes away from its value because it throws another interpretative layer upon what is already a work of interpretation (namely history). So my first thought when I saw this was: Those guys must be a RP clan of sorts because they love to roleplay being on planets and stuff, or at least understand themselves through the lens of some fictional story.
  4. So where is it? It can't be this stuff: http://mandalorianclan.forumotion.com/t491-mandalorian-history-book-1
  5. Are you a RP clan of sorts? Your "history" is fictional.
  6. Sorry @@Cerez, guess you'll have to just go through all the files by hand then.
  7. I think the thought behind this is a good one, namely sorting mods by author. We don't have that yet and I'm sure it would help a lot.
  8. That's a shame. People love to rp and that's fine, but it's sometimes hard to figure out where rp'ing as teachers ends and where effective training on how to play the game begins.
  9. Wait, you mean they consulted some ja+ clan for guidance on the gameplay?
  10. I agree with @, BS isn't very much like JKA, although (unfortunately) it is the closest we can get to right now. ... and it's not very good either.
  11. TIme to embrace that life of crime m8. For the greater good.
  12. It was also a game developed for the PC (just like Blade Symphony), which was then ported over to other systems, meaning that no big budget studio would do that. So yes, indies are our only real hope, but given that indie devs are probably not going to get a hold of the SW license, whatever they come up with will not be based on SW. It's not a big issue of course, more of a sidenote.
  13. It's not as unbelievable if you consider the fact that an intricate sword-fighting mechanic implies mechanical complexity, and mechanical complexity is impossible on a gamepad. You should try performing some very basic and standard sabering moves on the xbox...
  14. r_dynamicglow 2 is amongst my favourite settings ever and makes for very interesting duels.
  15. Never used the site, so I'm entirely indifferent to them shutting down, but I do know that the site was quite relevant to the modding scene and that a lot of people here liked it. Given that it was down for a while a few weeks ago and then went up again, I would have thought that people made backups of all the most important stuff from there so as to minimze the negative impact a complete shut-down could have.
  16. So you're from Bosnia&Herzegovina? Which part of it?
  17. This is my biggest worry and also the reason why I'm not excited about any future JK games at all.
  18. So you are saying that you find the rise of rp'ing nice because you like to rp. Are you going to participate in any of the rp communities anytime soon?
  19. I use a standard 101 keys microsoft keyboard from 2002, but you should probably pick the cheapest mechanical keyboard around. I heard the 6gv2 is good, but it's a bit on the expensive side (70-80€). The cheapest I can find is some noname Cherry G-80 for 50€. As for the mouse, for the longest time I used a Logitech B110 that I got for 5€ and it was perfectly fine for the odd 8 years that I had it - was my big leap into optical mice around 2005, since before that I played JKA competitively with a ball mouse. Now switched to the Steelseries Kinzu (v2) that I got for 20€ and it's just as nice. Don't buy into the DPI craze, it's almost entirely a waste of money. If you only spend 70€ on the mouse and keyboard, you'll have more money available for the monitor. But even with 200€ left you'll still have a difficult time getting a good one though, since I'd greatly recommend getting a 144mhz one for them mad fps (cheapest seems to be the asus vg24qe for 270€). There is no need for IPS or 4k if you are not serious about gaming and have a strict budget. However, if your new PC is mid-tier and won't get to 144fps for most newer games and you're not into playing older ones, then getting a 144mhz monitor makes no sense. You can easily find budget 24" (IPS) monitors for 140€.
  20. To prevent this thread from degenerating into a contentless batch of praise or hatred for rp'ing (or have it remain as contentless as it currently is), I am going to go out of my way to spark a discussion: You say that jka has always been practical for rp'ing, but I assume this is not the reason as to why it is nice to see rp'ing on the rise again. This is because from saying that x is useful for doing y, it does not follow without additional premises that an increase in the quantity of x is a good thing. So I am wondering why you think it is nice to see rp'ing on the rise.
  21. Which is a real shame, given that the game has a lot of potential to be quite excellent. To be fair, we had a great run throughout the decade, with or without the introduction of lagunlockers, cfg exploits and whatnot, so yeah. Who knows, indie devs are quite active on the PC side of things, but I fear that with the quite recent tendency of indie games not being aimed exclusively at a PC audience and seeing frequent console releases as well, we might have a really difficult time finding someone willing to bring us a successor to JKA. Blade Symphony turned out to be somewhat of a letdown unfortunately.
