  1. Well, now that I have successfully managed to fix the JKA black screen problem, I can finally play JKA again! WOO HOO (See "Jedi Academy Black Screen" thread for details) Now comes the next issue. I can't find any makermod servers on the server list! Not one. I did connect to spior's, but it's empty. Are there any other servers available? EDIT: Oh, I found one, Quantum makermod, is there any others?
  2. WHAT THE HECK! I UNCHECKED "Run program as admin", while attempted to +condump info into a text file to try to figure out the problem, and then all the sudden when I double clicked the exe, the black screen was gone! The run program as admin wasn't the cause of the blackscreen, but it was somehow preventing the SDL.dll from working. I'VE DONE IT! I HAVE DONE IT! YES!!!! FINALLY, 7 MONTHS OF WAITING HAS PAID OFF. I CAN NOW PLAY JEDI ACADEMY AGAIN! YES! IT WAS THAT SDL.dll FILE! I'VE DONE IT!...I'M OFF TO MAKERMOD! (Wow...a single dll file...wow...) See you guys ingame!
  3. I have some interesting news for you all. This may solve the black screen problem. Possibly. When I was trying to access Star Trek Elite Force Holomatch (AKA multiplayer), the program kept crashing on me. I couldn't solve the problem, even with the 256 colors thing, it just kept crashing. I didn't know why. I tried downloading a mod called "RPG-X", even though I knew it probably would crash too since it uses multiplayer. However, it had its own exe, and when I ran it, it told me I was missing a file called "SDL.dll". So, I downloaded it and fixed the problem. It then ran fine! I tried running holomatch again, it still crashed like before, but I was able to get the RPGX working and it loads multiplayer fine now. EDIT: Interesting, I unchecked "Run in 256 colors" in the single player exe, and now the game works without it! I have come to a conclusion (albeit, it may be a false one, but: I think I may be missing required dll files for JKA to run properly. The weird thing is is that it isn't telling me what I am missing. This problem has also happened before with N64 emulators I've been using, where they would crash, but for some apparent reason tell me at the strangest times what I am missing. ...what should I do?...
  4. Thanks Bacon for the explanation. That's kinda what I was trying to say, but you summed it up. Oh, good news! I just managed to use another computer for a few mins to run JKA from a USB to check out the server list! Bad news: The list has gotten a lot smaller than I remember it, and I couldn't find one...not one Makermod server.
  5. Makermod is basically...in my opinion, a mod where, as you see in the pics, you can build anything you want from the game objects. Makes cheat servers safer, and the mod is pretty fun. Some say Makermod is a ripoff of Lugormod, I disagree. It is much much easier to use. You can also roleplay, have a spaceship battle, or build yourself a house and invite people. Building is nothing like lugormod, as you actually hold objects and carry them around if /mgrabbing is enabled (by default it is), as if your holding an object or effect infront of you using the force. You can then place them wherever you want, rotate them, make them larger etc. I would guess people are leaving Makermod because no-one builds anything anymore. I mean, I occasionally see builders, but most of the time people are just jumping around, talking, messing with the map textures, or dueling...or spamming kill scripts. Well, that was over a year and a half ago, I haven't been on since then unfortunately. I'm still in the works of making a Defend your Castle type script, in which there are waves of enemies and you must survive while upgrading your castle. Ok, that was an OK explanation, ask spior, scooper, or didz, they probably have a better explanation. Or better yet, check the makermod wiki on jkhub. Unfortunately, there isn't much there. I would get online and start building again in an attempt to revive makermod, but I can't because of that darn Black Screen Issue! (Posted a topic of it in the JKHUB Jedi Knight Tech Support). You may ask "If you can't play JKA, then how is it you are able to still create scripts?". Well, I'm using my old laptop which JKA works on, but the network chip is fried, so.....ya....
  6. Heh, ya that's what I did before. Anyway, do you have any suggestions for more Makermod scripts I could create? Or any for the recent ones? If only I could play JKA...
  7. Thanks spior. Ya, making fun of Ragnos was fun. I wish i could have posted them as tag, but the pics didn't show up. If JKA would work on this computer, I would get online and show this build off, I should have taken more pictures of the city, there is also enterable buildings.
  8. Zero for me too . That's only because of the JKA black screen problem I'm having. Otherwise, I would always be going onto makermod servers. I think some of the main reasons people are leaving them are because everyone is moving on with life and gaming and forgetting about makermod, and because there probably aren't many people building anymore, so it can get boring around there.

    Hello

    Welcome to jkhub!
  10. Just a whole bunch of makermod pics I took in the past. The first one is a build I made with some other people back in...I think 2008 or 2009. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wwm5w898rlelj6c/shot0016.jpg (Made this one with some people just for fun) All the others are my scripts. (My resolution is 640 x 480, didn't bother to make it higher, heh). All pics below are not builds, but makermod scripts. Crappy Air balloon heh. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ltibvousohaubic/shot0017.jpg My very first scripted house https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdus9tnph4czsmw/shot0001.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/6v7rn57cjvmqqa5/shot0002.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/qjmlzq6fm13pb44/shot0004.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/rntoz1p9jtopdsz/shot0005.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/4gav8anp2v820i7/shot0006.jpg My latest script https://www.dropbox.com/s/dwfpdcw84siyv8n/shot0018.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/asjysyc69se6iny/shot0019.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/z898o5c5s3l9950/shot0020.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/247fzssmqxjf69s/shot0021.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/vex94f6nxwryok1/shot0022.jpg I began building my latest script as a giant RPG type story, in which you have to collect three crystals from different locations, traveling to them by the...train thing... The locations are: 1: Mountains (Rocky mountains with giant cliffs and wampas) *Almost finished, but no pics* 2: Forest (With a tower where a Dark Reborn Chiss awaits) *Not started* 3: The stadium (inspired by paper mario the thousand year door in glitzville, where you must fight your way up to the top) *Not started* I still haven't finished it, and if I can get online with JKA again (I cant play JKA atm because of the black screen problem), I'll probably continue working on it. Tell me your feedback XD.
  11. The frame rate in elite force is locked at a full 60FPS. I checked ingame for my driver details, and it claims the rendering method is DirectX, it doesn't list openGL there...dah, does anyone know how I can attach screenshots? That would help make this easier. I can still player games like Half-Life 2 and Halo Combat Evolved just fine, but jka just isn't rendering...I know the video card I'm using now is better than the one I used previously, which was an ATI Radeon mobility, which didn't support OpenGL too well and didn't support anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering, while this card I have now does. Yet the old one rendered JKA properly. Heres a link to my graphics cards direct X and OpenGL capabilities: http://www.kludx.com/card.php?card=70 This is the only download I could find, but its for vista, and I might have tried it already, not 100% sure though (probably have): http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_vista32.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.13&lang=English By the way, thanks eezstreet for sticking with me so far.
  12. Already tried that Raz0r, still the same thing. A black screen with sound...hmm...well at least now I know I don't need GLDirect to run JKA on this computer...but it seems elite force won't run without it...this is getting weird. Is there anything else I can do? I've tried disabling the video card in device manager, still doesn't work. Hmm...just some more info for everyone: -In project64, if I use the Glide64 (openGL) plugin, the emulator will crash. -As well, when running the visualboyadvance emulator, if I select openGL as the render method, the emulator will crash. But even with these problems, it still doesn't explain how I am able to get Star Trek Elite Force working when it uses the quake 3 engine just like jka.. http://jkhub.org/topic/2255-whats-with-my-graphics-card/ I created a new topic for the elite force thing, I should have posted it here though. Is there anything else I can do?
  13. Yep, just did that. The whole windowed screen is black. Still hear all the sounds, can open the console, etc, but I just don't see anything. I'm honestly not sure what the problem is. Is there any way I can attach a screenshot? EDIT: Oh, just to be sure this isn't misinterpreted, the whole screen is black, even when I open the console I can't see it. I can't see nothing, not the mouse pointer, menu, logo, NOTHING. EDIT 2: Theres another thing you should know. I had to use GLDirect for jedi academy to run on my old laptop, and am still using it here. Without it, elite force won't run either. EDIT 3: Does jedi academy use vertex/pixel shaders at all? Are they required to run it successfully?
  14. Nope, still didn't work. My computer just doesn't seem to like openGL or something. I still don't understand how I got Star Trek Elite Force work without the black screen, considering they use the same source engine.
  15. My apologies, I was afraid no-one would notice ...now when I think about it, that's a pretty stupid assumption. You have a point.
  16. eezstreet, please read this: http://jkhub.org/topic/1009-jedi-academy-black-screen/ I am using an ATI radeon x1200.
  17. Nope, OpenJK didn't solve the problem. Its the same issue. If you read my previous thread, the game loads up fine, I can hear the jka logo sound, and click and then hear the menu music, I can even open the console and type /quit or connect to a server, but I can't see a damn thing! It's not rendering for some reason. The same issue happened on elite force, but somehow I fixed it. There has got to be a way to solve this problem.
  18. Hey guys. I've been away for awhile, and was bored one day, so I downloaded the Star Trek: Elite Force demo again even though I knew it probably wouldn't work because....well... http://jkhub.org/topic/1009-jedi-academy-black-screen/ However, when I changed the compatibility of the shortcut for the single player exe, and checked "Run in 256 Colors", while the game was loading up, I got this error in a new window: Low Desktop Color Depth It is highly unlikely that a correct windowed display can be initialized with the current desktop display depth. Select 'OK' to try anyway. Select 'Cancel' to try a fullscreen mode instead. (e.g. if you have a 3Dfx Voodoo, Voodoo-2, or Voodoo Rush 3D accelerator installed) ------------------------------------------------------------------ OK Cancel I couldn't find a way to post the screenshot of it, so I just put the screenshot I took of that popup window on my profile picture instead XD. Anyway, whether I pressed OK or Cancel, the game would run fine, no more black screen! (And also for some reason not in 256 colors, yay!). I tried this on JKA, with no success. But this has given me hope, that maybe this black screen problem can be solved. I did something similar on HALF-LIFE(the first one in Black Mesa), and the game worked again because the error changed rendering mode from OPENGL to SOFTWARE. However, Elite Force runs on the same engine as JKA, and since I got it working, I know there must be some way to get JKA working again! I miss Makermod. I still have a ship to finish.
  19. Bump. (Sorry for double post, but it was necassary)
  20. Never mentioned anything about a cataclysmic event, I'm just saying they are lining up, that's all. Google it The concept of leap-years is irrelevant to this calendar system, because it's not based on solar years, simply on math. Just want to point this out: December 21st is the media date that the world is gonna end. The actual conspiracy date was the 12th (12/12/12). Sorry guys, but the world already ended Not according to the Mayan long count calender, it still is the 21st of december, its been that way long before the media talked about it. 12/12/12 is popular among a lot of people though. According to the terrible fate countdown, we are close to: Dawn of the Final Day 24 hours remain.
  21. Darth Sidious: Well, the third deathstar is finally complete. Those earthling humans never even suspected it was built inside the moon, and the superlaser focus lens is on the darkside (heheh) of the moon. As planned, on december 21st I shall destroy this planet, as to set an example to all others in the milky way galaxy who dares oppose what is left of the empire! HEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH! Goooooooooooooooood UNLIMITED POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  22. Just relating this to majoras mask gives me the shivers. I honestly do not know if the world will end,but I do know this: -A galactic alignment with all the planets in our solar system. -Unusual sun activity. -Mayan long count calender ends. That is all.
  23. Crap, this is freaky...the last day in majoras mask always scared the hell out of me...perfect for 2012. Imagine that, we all die, then hear "You've met a terrible fate haven't you?", then wake up on Tuesday morning all over again, as if nothing happened... Not that I believe we will all die in 2012...but even if we did, it still wouldn't really matter now would it? We all die sooner or later...
