Spotify pays the artist every time the song is listened to. It's not stealing, the artist also has to agree to have their music put up.

That's why tones of artists removed the albums that were streamed by spotify after court desicions. You are artist and have 1 song (not album but a song), than you have to get at least 1000 (1K) different people to listen your track, so you can get around 60 USD profit for yourself.
