Yes, I know. I mean, I missed this one somehow, but the movie isn't new.

  2. The Droids on the left remind me of Tarisian Mechanic Guards (actually Droids), who are encountered in the Lower levels of Taris near the Tarisian Administration Archives some 300 years after the attack by Darth Malak. Are these actually from that era? And I see several new characters, which I am curious about seeing in the story.
  3. @@Noodle We did make a few variants for Imperial Female Officer, which will be available to everyone with the release of Chapter I (where this character is featured a lot). I made a Juno Eclipse skin a few years ago and it was available on jk3files.
  4. I must remind, that this is a mod, not a game, and the team isn't a corporation, and not a studio of professionals. It is a group of enthusiasts, who work on the project in their free time and when they have no other matters to distract them from the project. Also take into account, that since the first steps for the project took place, a lot of our views have changed and more than that: - we learnt more of game design and map creation, the level design is very different from our initial ideas now; - we added many new characters, as @@lang_french mentioned. The plot was somehow simple at first, but we wanted a good scenario and story, so we added deepness to the worlds in DP; - the initial use of the original JA/JO characters and reskins was no longer possible, as we learnt; adding new models (characters, objects, etc) is essential for the mod to be interesting and playable; - our skills outside the project also changed: the studies in graphics design, typography and illustration urged me to rethink the DP concepts and change many textures, signs and UI; - the coming of the new members introduced new 3D skills, as well as presented better scripts/shaders and mapping opportunities + fresh ideas; - given this, I also changed and redesigned over 100 textures for several planets, basing them on my new concepts and photos, which I took in more than 8 countries around the world; @@ent makes a point: it's better to show something rather than talk about it all the time. Silence presents opportunities. One can say, that many projects (games) offer activities in the Social Media, as well as ads, videos, developer's diaries. We don't want to be delusional: all this would require more time and to be made on regular base, thus an additional person (SMM or PR manager) would be required to do that. We receive many messages and letters about DP here on JKHUB and on MODDB, so I guess the interchange and interaction takes place there. We always respond, that's our politics for now. But don't get me wrong: I am glad, that people show interest in the project and inquire about the release date or the certain aspects in the mod, but I also ask for patience and understanding of what I've mentioned above.
  5. Pantoran maybe. But if there was a chance to try different ones at once, I would choose Kushiban or Wol Cabasshite. Both look small and unprotected, but nevertheless they are sentient.
  6. I tried many Lego games, not just Star Wars, though it was the first one and actually a very good fun. I also enjoy Indiana Jones a lot – this was one of a few games, which bring the atmosphere of the archeologist's adventures like it was in the movies. Lego Indiana Jones 2 was a bit different, the gameplay changed. I also tried Harry Potter game and Lord of the Rings, which brings many dialogues from the film into the game. Still a nice addition. I thought Lego The Force Awakens would be released later, perhaps even when the whole trilogy would be complete.
  7. @@eezstreet Yes, the mod is in works. All efforts are for the Chapter I, as I mentioned earlier. However we decided to complete the Chapter and only then to post any more news, including the ones about non-Chapter I things, like next Chapters, new maps, models, etc.
  8. I thought of exactly the same spots. Dubrovnik is truly an amazing place, which managed to preserve the beauty of old architecture and culture. It would be nice to see a city in Star Wars again, because while I do understand the Maz Kanata castle, I would say, that Niima Outpost is a pretty dull place. If we think of Mos Eisley, it's far more diverse in all aspects.
  9. Some people suggest, Star Wars VIII will be filmed in Croatia. So we might have another green planet in the Galaxy. Or probably a location with a decent old town, occupied by the First Order. I would like to see a normal town with dozens of citizens, walking around. source
  10. Star Wars is quite often about family matters, be it Dark Forces II (Kyle and his father) or The Force Unleashed (Galen Marek and his father, killed by Vader). Even Shadows of the Empire had this moment, as well as KOTOR. So no wonder, that Rogue One will also feature this aspect, though it has to look different from what we already know. As far as I know, the main female lead is linked to this "scientist", who worked on Death Star I plans, thus this makes him sort of Bevel Lemelisk, but not that loyal. It also seems there will be a mentor, who would guide the characters. Whether the film is good or not, and even if it is great in all regards, for me it will always be Kyle Katarn, who stole the plans of the Death Star on Danuta, as asked by Mon Mothma.
  11. Actually the horde of zombies is still possible without significant changes in AI or coding. Some scripting, new animations and decent textures for zombies, as well as sounds (yes, sounds play a lot in this).
  12. The best zombies I've encountered in non-zombie games are the ones, which try to suck out your brains in Vampires Bloodlines: The Masquerade. Like here. Or here They are featured in several missions there, including the one, where they attack the cemetery gates and you have to stop the freaks from coming into the city. It is funny, that you actually encounter many other peculiar creatures in the very same game. I guess something similar can be made in JA, though the zombies would require new animations.
  13. The strangest theory so far. https://youtu.be/d3-05w73lBE When I read the title, at first I thought, that they would speak of a clone or that Rey was sort of relative of Anakin aside from Luke. The three minutes were enough however to see that they meant something else. I am not dying, the video is too convincing, but I thought, that probably for Episode VIII they might be using a somehow new concept - resurrection. We've already seen immortality, life after death and other wonders in Star Wars. Star Wars, being somehow related to Oriental philosophies, could feature resurrection as well. I still don't buy the fact that Rey can be another embodiment of Anakin Skywalker, but to some extent it at least sounds interesting.
  14. I think it would be better to postpone it until May 2018, so that we had a premiere on a classic date. I was at first unamused by the delay, though yes, it could mean they would work harder on the film and make something decent.
  15. @@Galahad89912 You can't see your maps outside of Radiant, because they were created using a Radiant without "Admin" options ticked prior. I never found a way of making such files appear again for seeing outside of respective program. Surely this isn't just a problem of the map editor, as I encountered such a thing with many other programs too, be it md3viewer, Behaved or other non-JK related ones. Creating new map files from scratch is probably the only option here. Some shaders and textures should be missing: some of them come from JK:Jedi Outcast and aren't supposed to be shown correctly (they aren't used in JA, but simply present in game archives), some materials were made specifically for Jedi Academy, but for some reasons are omitted anywhere in the game. It includes actually dozens of textures, including various fogs, some skies, even some models! If there was a problem with paths for Radiant, then see if the Radiant files were installed properly. When this map editor is installed, it also adds a few files to the JA - GameData/base folder, including some pk3, which include the above mentioned shaders for caulk, origin, solid, etc. System textures, as people call them.
  16. If you work in Windows 7 or so, then you have to tick "Run this program as Administrator". In some cases even this doesn't help, and interestingly Radiant 1.4. wouldn't save maps even after that. In this case option Save As works only, so you'll have to find a *.map file and save (save as) it then. If there are problems with shaders, then it can be related to the fact, that Radiant might be trying to see textures from disc C, while your game in on disc F. Skyboxes can be loaded though Skies folder, while the textures of the skies can be in any folder, not skies necessarily. What about other textures and shaders? Do other yavin textures work? Desert, h_evil, imp detention, taspir?

      Victory Celebration, for me ;)

  18. What can I say here, aside from not welcoming December for Star Wars premiere?
  19. I wonder, what causes this. As I found out, there is a limit for menus in JA. Too bad.
  20. There are several channels of this kind. Here is the second channel, which features quite a lot of locations from Star Wars - here. Personally I use these sometimes to listen and get inspiration.
  21. If the rumour about Rey proves to be right, then that article is also true, at least in several aspects. In any case I like the examples they present. Notably, some things have already been confirmed either by J.J.Abrams or K.Kennedy, though they didn't mean to spoil Rey's mystery. I talked yesterday to a person, who just watched Episode VII and haven't read any supporting materials: for me it is clear now, that many things are left unspoken in the film and that's not for the best. The Republic affairs and Leia's involvement in them isn't clear at all, and Korr Sella is not even noticed by most people. While I believe, that a small dialogue between her and Leia (like in the books) could explain, why the Galaxy is at this state of matters, that the Republic is dealing with trade, while the First Order isn't treated as a threat. There quite a lot of such things in the film, which need explanation, but there isn't, and background details don't fulfill the curiosity.
  22. A lot of things speak in favor, that Rey is Luke's daughter. But some say, that she can be related to Obi Wan, though this is unlikely in my opinion. I guess Episodes VIII and IX will reveal these mysteries the way Episode V did: in the next chapters we will see, that the truth we know about Kylo Ren and Luke is not that truth we expected. Perhaps Kylo Ren killed all the Jedi not because of his mastery, but because of trickery – either on the part of knights of Ren or Snoke (secret weapon, super powers, etc). The other revelation I expect to see is that Luke is indeed to blame for what happened: he did something, so that the Order was left vulnerable and unprotected. Most likely he was away from their Temple and... why he was away? Probably he was searching for the recently discovered Jedi relic (which was a trap), or he might have been trying to "save friends" the way it happened in Episode V. And that was his undoing.
  23. It was more or less clear, what conclusion would be with Episode VI - Luke and Vader would ultimately meet again, and the final battle would take place (though viewers would have to guess, whether Vader told the truth on Bespin, whether Yoda would return, as well what happened with Han Solo in Jabba's hands, etc). With the Prequels it was also more or less obvious, that we would see the fall of the Jedi and the Republic and most importantly - the birth of Darth Vader. Surely the story was covered in many other - additional - subplots, like Dooku's appearance, the Clone Wars and Plaguies mystery among many other things. What have we here? The New Republic got a mortal blow for sure: with the capital, Senate and most of the fleet destroyed, it is possible, that the First Order would start a crusade against the Galaxy - and what Hux said in his speech - most systems would bow before their new Empire, or at least wouldn't try to support the Resistance, fearing other things - terrible ones - to happen to them as well. We don't know where Snoke is hiding, perhaps their planet holds many secrets and things more terrible than Starkiller Base. It is also where Hux escaped to, as well where Kylo would continue his training. Does it mean, that this is where the Knights of Ren are also hiding? I wonder how would we be reintroduced to Rey: perhaps the beginning of the film would concentrate on something else (Finn's mission, Leia arrival somewhere, etc), while Rey and Luke would be reintroduced a bit later - found by a space traveller the way Luke encountered Yoda on Dagobah. Surely the First Order would have to show their might, now that the Republic is crippled considerably. There was a word, that the film would introduce new types of First Order stormtroopers: on Hoth we see snow troopers, and TFA shows many different kinds at once, so perhaps Episode VIII will show us some lava troopers of the First Order (if it takes place on Sullust for instance), or underwater troopers (Mon Kalamari perhaps?). I haven't read the novel to Episode VII, but it might have some hints on already introduced things, which are sure to come back in the next movie.
  24. In continuation of the theories, here are 13 things - actually ideas, that were dropped off in favor of other things in The Force Awakens. Interestingly, some of these were spotted as rumors 1-2 years ago and are actually mentioned in these thread. 1) The main villain was called the Jedi Killer at first. He looked differently, but the concept shifted towards the already known design of Kylo Ren. One concept showed this villain as a woman, which looked exactly as Darth Talon (perhaps they wanted to bring her back into canon). The other idea was that someone was impersonating Darth Vader. 2) Ice planet with a volcano. This location was supposed to show a new version of AT-AT, as well as a character wielding a double lightsaber, with one blade red, the other one – blue. 3) Luke Skywalker bizarre illusion. This was supposed to appear as a very strange image to one of the characters in the sand. It was supposed to be very scary, and Luke was supposed to be as a ghost. 4) Darth Vader's Castle – it was supposed to be a location visited by the main crew. 5) Underwater Death Star. The new weapon was built in secret under water. "Part of the second Death Star, from Return of the Jedi, ends up at the bottom of the ocean, including the Emperor’s Tower. Rey (who was called Kira at this point) has to dive into that ocean and swim inside the Emperor’s Tower and find the map that shows where the Jedi are, and where Luke is hiding. There’s also beautiful concept art of the Emperor’s sunken chamber, with bodies floating around. And the Millennium Falcon was going to dive under the water, to find the Death Star wreckage, and possibly also rescue Kira." 6) Space Pirates. Millennium Falcon is captured by a gang, and Rey is made to walk the plank off their spaceship, over a large body of water (like in classic films, where shark awaits for the prey). 7) Anakin Skywalker's Ghost - already known one. 8) Poe Dameron - not a pilot, but a Jedi. Or a Bounty Hunter. His initial name was John Doe. 9) The beginning of the film was similar to A New Hope. It was supposed to include a Star Destroyer of old design, and unexpectedly we see a large hole in the hull. A group of scavengers tear the remaining Imperial vessel apart. The accident aboard it however makes them leave it and land on the planet nearby (possibly Jakku). 10) Dantooine was supposed to be the new Imperial base, built after Endor. A local volcano would be used to create the Planet Killer weapon, which was named "Doom Star" at one point. The above mentioned AT-AT would appear here, with a hammerhead instead of a classic one (hammerhead ships and vehicles were favored by the Old Republic, as we know from KOTOR and SWTOR). 11) Finn was called Sam and defected from the Empire at different occasion. The Empire captures the Rebels and kills them, sending bodies into space. This what causes the break in Finn's loyalty. After that he and Poe (John Doe) escape the Imperial vessel, but Doe leaves Sam behind. The latter is then rescued by local aliens on the planet (Jakku) and heal him via special ritual. Interestingly, the initial design of Poe Dameron shows him as Afro-American, while Finn is white. Also there is a picture, that one of the aliens tries to wear Finn's helmet with blood stains, what really scares the former stormtrooper. 12) The Resistance forces also have a super weapon of their own - the Warhammer. I remember this one from early rumors. Unlike the Starkiller however it is a massive ship with very strong shields, which can penetrate any defenses, especially planetary shields, which allows it to send smaller starships into battle or to land on the surface. Actually seeing two super weapons against each other would be better than just a battle against the Starkiller. 13) The Supreme Leader of the First Order is a female. Unlike Snoke she was supposed to look very beautiful and appear before Imperials (like Hux and Kylo) as a marble statue. J.J. wanted to go away from the concept of old Palpatine, however some traits prevail. However the Dark Side is too strong to keep someone really beautiful (I still remember Darth Zash from SWTOR)))) Source Addition: When I heard of Starkiller capable of destroying entire systems, I thought that it would primarily attack the main star of the system, which upon exploding would crush all the planets nearby. The other theory was that something like a Galactic torpedo would arrive in the system and explode nearby one of the planets, destroying the star and all the planets with a wave. P.S. I don't like rathtars. I really think they are too weird for Star Wars, don't have the feel of the Galaxy like other creatures as Sarlacc or Nexu.
  25. There is a list of scenes from the novel on wookiepedia, some of which should have been in the film. One involves Chewie and Wookie's rage (yes, that stuff with arms))) -The novel opens with a scene of Leia thinking about the events of the past and about having sent an exceptional Resistance pilot (Poe Dameron) to try and find her brother. This is followed by the opening scene of the Movie (the First Order forces on approach to Jakku). -FN-2187's failure to shoot the villagers is initially thought by one of his fellow troopers to be due to a "blaster jam," explaining why Captain Phasma orders him to turn in his weapon to be checked by technicians. -Leia is seen sending her personal envoy, Korr Sella, to persuade the Senate of the New Republic to act against the First Order, revealing that the Resistance is not a formal part of the New Republic armed forces. Sella is later noted to be one of the victims of the first firing of the Starkiller Base superweapon. -There is an additional scene that depicts Poe Dameron's encounter with a scavenger on Jakku and his escape from the planet following the crash of the stolen TIE fighter. -There is an additional scene at Maz Kanata's castle, just after Finn's decision to try and flee the conflict. Unkar Plutt and some of his henchmen arrive and attempt to abduct Rey and BB-8. Rey tries to shoot him with the blaster given to her by Han, but she has not taken the safety off, and is quickly disarmed by Plutt. This is may explain why in the movie she is shown taking the safety off before attacking a group of stormtroopers. Rey is rescued by the intervention of Chewbacca, whom Plutt unwisely aggravates by poking at his wounded shoulder. Chewbacca responds by ripping off Plutt's arm. I actually see Finn and Poe as two separate characters from the start: one is a pilot, the other is an untraditional stormtrooper-turned-good. We had this story with Han Solo previously, but it doesn't feel that way: for me he is forever a smuggler. So Finn makes a transition from a stormtrooper to "a just guy". Poe however is an example of a professional and a good person (something usually mentioned by other characters in the movies "He's a good guy, stick with him"). In one case I do feel, that adding Finn was a necessity for the sake of the plot: the new weapon is unknown to most of the characters, however Finn does know about it. This was a small break in the story, which feels awkward.
