Guest praskOo Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Hello, I am a speedrunner of Jedi Outcast. Recently there's been an issue with one of the strats we use, the doom_shields skip. Here's how it works: https://youtu.be/tYPuItp3cuM?t=39m36s(39:39 in the video if the link doesn't work).A seeker drone is spawned on the other side of the door and hits the level end trigger. However, few months ago we had a couple of new people join the community and the skip wouldn't work for them, cause the seeker drone would no longer spawn behind the door, but to the side of it. It would also immediately get attracted by nearby enemies. We've never encountered this before, and have no idea why it doesn't work as expected. This is the workaround that was found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQZRY11E1hYIf there are no enemies nearby, the seeker drone can be force pushed immediately after spawning. For me the skip stopped working once I reinstalled Windows and formatted my hard drive (went from 7 to 10), but we're not certain if this is the only thing affecting it. It might also be hardware related. So what I'm asking for is if someone could look into why this happens, is there a way to fix it or perhaps create a mod that makes the skip work on all systems, as that would make competition between all runners more fair.Thank you.
Raz0r Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 I can't imagine this being specific to OS or hardware. There must be an ingame contributing factor. I wonder if using a lower framerate would affect this drastically :^) @@eezstreet can you spot anything funky in the seeker spawn/think code? (JO)
Guest praskOo Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Which engine are people using? We're using the base game.
eezstreet Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 I did a history check on the files involved and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
