dark_apprentice
Ok, so I had to reinstall my laptop PC and made clear installation of Windows 7 professional 64bit. I installed most of my previews settings, programs, drivers etc. However when I installed JKA again I ran into the well known issue with the OpenGL subsystem. I checked few threads here and on the internet as well and still nothing helps. I patched the game to 1.0.1 and also I have extracted the "opengl32.dll" in my GameData still doesn't seem to work. Reinstalled the game, tried different suggestions that I found nothing is working. Game doesn't start for both SP and MP. My laptop is very old doesn't have any ATI or Nvidia it runs only with a Intel Core 2 Duo Centrino.I either have to try with NVIDIA drivers installed or something else, because every single step and suggestion I have found over the internet doesn't work and I'm out of ideas I thought, that it will work with the "opengl32.dll" file but still no. ensiform
Extracting some foreign copy of the OpenGL DLL isn't the wisest thing. The Intel chipset likely doesn't supply real OpenGL drivers maybe? Have you tried with no OpenGL32.dll but using openjk? Link to comment
dark_apprentice
Well I tried with this one: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gldirect/files/latest/download?source=typ_redirect but I didn't tried with OpenJK usually it works fine without the OpenJK and it's the first time I have this issue. Once few years ago I had same problem, but when I downloaded and extracted the same OpenGL32.dll file it worked and now it doesn't strange. Link to comment
dark_apprentice
Ok, so now I have tried also with the OpenJK as you suggested, still doesn't work. There are two issues at the moment:1. If I open the clear JKA single player - crashes with the same error message about the OpenGL.2. When I start the OpenJKSP - game starts but with a huge lag and it's very hard to use it. Link to comment
ensiform
Did you remove the DLL before launching openjk. A log file would be helpful with the huge lag. Though not surprised given the age of your laptop and lack of real graphics chip. Link to comment
dark_apprentice
Yes I removed it before launching the OpenJk, strange is that the laptop is old for sure but it's the first time refusing to play this game.clear JKA without OpenJK installed: JA: v1.0.1.0 win-x86 Oct 24 2003Initialising zone memory .....----- FS_Startup -----Current search path:D:\Game\Academy\GameData\base\assets3.pk3 (16 files)D:\Game\Academy\GameData\base\assets2.pk3 (62 files)D:\Game\Academy\GameData\base\assets1.pk3 (8320 files)D:\Game\Academy\GameData\base\assets0.pk3 (15346 files)D:\Game\Academy\GameData/base ----------------------23744 files in pk3 filesexecing default.cfgcouldn't exec jaconfig.cfgcouldn't exec autoexec.cfg...detecting CPU, found Intel Pentium IV ------- Input Initialization -------Skipping check for DirectInputJoystick is not active.----------------------------------------- Client Initialization ---------- Initializing Renderer ---------------------------------------- Client Initialization Complete -------- Common Initialization Complete ---Working directory: D:\Game\Academy\GameDataInitializing OpenGL subsystem...initializing QGLsucceeded...setting mode 4: 800 600 FS...using desktop display depth of 32...calling CDS: ok...registered window class...created window@0,0 (800x600)Initializing OpenGL driver...getting DC: succeeded...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 8 )...35 PFDs found...GLW_ChoosePFD failed...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 )...35 PFDs found...GLW_ChoosePFD failed...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT...restoring display settings...WARNING: could not set the given mode (4)...setting mode 3: 640 480 FS...using colorsbits of 16...calling CDS: ok...created window@0,0 (640x480)Initializing OpenGL driver...getting DC: succeeded...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 )...35 PFDs found...GLW_ChoosePFD failed...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 )...35 PFDs found...GLW_ChoosePFD failed...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT...restoring display settings...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3)...shutting down QGL...unloading OpenGL DLL----- CL_Shutdown ----------------------------GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem And with OpenJK installed it's just normal game starting with a huge lag and a missing video on the start menu (the one before a player selects either new game or saved one). dark_apprentice
I need the openjk log too.Well, when I start from "openjk_sp.x86" it loads the game without the console. Just imagine how you start a new SP or MP game and everything lags from graphics to sound. Link to comment
eezstreet
Can you get us some more specific hardware information? Try running dxdiag.exe (Windows + R, dxdiag.exe) Link to comment
ensiform
The game always has a console mate. The in-game version exists plus you can launch the game with +set logfile 2 on the startup parameters to get the entire log in a file. If you have the in-game console open you can always type condump console.txt and it will appear in the home directory in your documents under my games. Link to comment
Khethiwe
intel onboard graphics usually are bare minimum, just enough to run simplistic games, lol. you should be able to run openjk with low level settings. there isnt any opengl support that i can see with intel onboard video using windows. if you setup just a small linux partition with 50 gb's, you should be able torun jka better using openjk. ensiform
Yeah you don't have any drivers. You'll notice it only is loading Microsoft basic OpenGL which isn't really a hardware accelerated version at all. And I'm pretty sure software renderer isn't allowed either. I would suggest looking into Intel's newest Graphics Media Accelerator driver which may have a real OpenGL driver even if only for 1.4 that's still better than the basic MS one. dark_apprentice likes this Link to comment
dark_apprentice
Well I remember that once I used to have some Nvidia drivers installed on the same laptop and JKA was running like new and i can't remember what drivers were and not sure how it was working with them, since it's only Intel But I will try with Intel now and after that I will write here what happens. Try and reseat your graphics card and see if windows detects it after a restart. Link to comment

Futuza
I don't know how you'd do that considering its a laptop Pull the battery out and the harddrive, and maybe the keyboard depending on the laptop. But yeah, might be a little much if you don't have the right kind of screwdrivers to pull it apart. Maybe try device manager first to see if you can just uninstall reinstall nvidia drivers, see if it even shows up there. Link to comment
dark_apprentice
Guys, the laptop doesn't have Nvidia but it only worked once with such drivers no idea how. Laptop is running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Professional SP1 Link to comment

dark_apprentice
Link to the manufacturer's manual guide for this particular laptop? Or an Amazon sell page for the laptop?Check the first page, i shared the details of the laptop there with a link for it's original details and the stuff i have updated on the laptop. Tried to install the 64 bit version update for Intel similar to the one that @@ensiform suggested, however when I started to install it and it was not successful because it is not supported for this laptop model. Maybe with an older update. Link to comment
