CaptainChar
I was wondering, can bots use doors that are "player use" trigger types? Link to comment
RebelChum
Bots are essentially players, so they'd trigger clientonly type triggers. However bots never perform +use so they would be incapable of toggling triggers or opening doors that require +use. Link to comment
CaptainChar
crap, that means I need to do another set of goldeneye maps, with Auto doors so bot matches will be allowed, or set up a server for my maps Link to comment
afi
Didn't someone post on another topic that bots constantly "press" +use? Link to comment
RebelChum
That's possible, It'd be a simple matter to throw a test square map together consisting of a default trigger_multiple with the player use function. Spawn an Alora and see if she hops about holding her hand out in front of her. Link to comment
CaptainChar
just it seemed the Jkfiles community really seemed to be missing the point, I was making replica era maps, when Goldeneye 64 came out, its multiplayer was about pitting you against a friend, I originally opted to leave bots out, but having learned how simple it was to add bot routes, i reconsidered this, but most my maps have player user triggers, the Facility uses swinging doors as well, and unless the bots paused, it would cause issues Link to comment
eezstreet
I was wondering, can bots use doors that are "player use" trigger types?Bots never stop holding the use key. They always hold it down. Link to comment
MUG
Bots never stop holding the use key. They always hold it down. aye, tis true. Link to comment
CaptainChar
alright one sure way to do this, im going to add bot routes to the Bunker map and if it works, the bot should be able to find me, and if thats the case, expect a version update on some of my maps Link to comment
CaptainChar
well I tried the bot routing, and the bot got stuck on the doors, so err myth busted? either that or general grievous is challanged without his battle droids NVM it seems default bots can use the doors, Grievous just happened to be derp and stand there running into the door Link to comment
RebelChum
If you have problems with bots getting stuck on doors that open slowly or more artistically, you could make it so the bot route has an extra point back a bit so they like... run forward and backward to give the door extra time to open. Astral Serpent
I think I've seen many map makers do things like that with bots. Link to comment
CaptainChar
Seems the problem is i keep getting borked waypoints, so I think I need to put more then just 200 in the map, even if its only a Nintendo 60 replica Link to comment
Jason Black
...Grievous just happened to be derp and stand there running into the door. Worst General ever. There isn't a lot to be said about bot waypoints for multiplayer, I do remember they seem to go in the reverse order you lay them down by default. That could have been incidental, but usually I'd find that you run through laying down the route and when you loaded it up with bots they'd get onto that course and immediately run counter to the direction you laid it out? Anyone else get that? Could be an issue with finding specific triggers, doors, jumps and so on? Link to comment
