PirishLad Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 So, uh... yeah. I'm new around here, and I've been heavily considering starting to get into mod development for JK3, but I have no idea where to start. I have some experience modeling/animating and I've done a tad bit of scripting in Valve's Source Engine (which I know is a bit hold-handy), if that helps hint toward where I should go. Also sorry if this is the wrong place to post this kind of thing but it was my best guess.
PirishLad Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 I used to do Softimage Mod Tool but now I use Blender (I'm a cheap bastard.)
PirishLad Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Also, perhaps I should have put this in the first post, I want to focus more on singleplayer modding/mapping. I have some mapping experience in Source as well.
Circa Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Take a look at our tutorial section. It's a great place to start. http://jkhub.org/tutorials/
mrwonko Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 If you're experienced with modelling an obvious place to start are new player and weapon models (including lightsabers). Preparing them for export is a bit of a pain though since the format has some annoying requirements that few if any of the exporters can handle automatically. You can also create a map almost entirely out of models - you just need to place some colliders, entities and antiportals in the map editor later.
