Merek Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Does anyone know where I can get a different font for Jedi Academy?
Pande Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Afaik the majority of font changes have to be coded in to use different font files
Circa Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I actually had started making a new one but I made it too light so I will have to start over. To answer your question, I don't know of any standalone mods that do it yet.
MoonDog Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I used to use this: http://jkhub.org/files/file/1424-jka-font-mod-typomoderno-by-renegade/
eezstreet Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 It depends on what you're replacing. Console font uses charsgrid_med.tga while other fonts use fonts in /fonts/. See JAFont with how to make these.and yes, new actual fonts (not just replacements) require code editing therfiles likes this

Merek Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 Why would I post here If I hadn't googled it yet @@MoonDog?
therfiles Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 The best way to go about it would be to use JAFont, as @@eezstreet suggested. There are directions of usage in the file's description. All you've gotta do is find a font you like, download it, and convert it. I believe "anewhope" is the menu font, so replace that in the Fonts folder. Fonts are just an image that the game subdivides (I think). So JAFont can easily pop a new font out for you in a jiffy.

It's a .png and a .fontdat, and the .fontdat contains information about how the game subdivides the image used for the font. therfiles likes this
Circa Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Wow. If I had known about that tool a few months ago. I did it the hard way and replaced every letter in photoshop in the base png. Searching "font" doesn't bring that up because it doesn't have the singular word font anywhere. I just updated that so it should show up now. That would have been nice. therfiles likes this
eezstreet Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 We should JAFont uploaded here...yoloswaghttp://jkhub.org/files/file/371-jafont/ Circa and Omicron like this
Omicron Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 yoloswaghttp://jkhub.org/files/file/371-jafont/Oh, hadn't realised
Circa Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Oh, hadn't realised 'Twas also linked by therfiles above.
Omicron Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 'Twas also linked by therfiles above. I had assumed it was the link on Moddb
Merek Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 I already tried that using free fonts it didn't work. I also used renegade's font .pk3 file for comparison. The main reason I stopped using Renegade's font was when I connected to jka servers i couldn't read anything. The regular font from jka and the other font were blurred together in an unreadable mess. I will try the font tool again. therfiles likes this

Putting the font mod in your japlus folder as well should fix it.
Merek Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 That's where I put it in the japlus folder. It usually works but there are times when i have a lot in my japlus and base folder and its fine when i start my own LAN server or browse the menu but when I connect its all messed up.
