Wookiee Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Let me start off saying this is the first time I have ever decided to write a review like this on jkhub and be a tester. What is jaPRO?It is a mod started by loda from modbase put together by raz0r and other jacoders with the security fixes. There are alot of features and new ideas taken from popular mods. What does jaPRO do for me?A better sabering environment from base, lag compensation either using guns or force, tweaking current weapons for different effects, non abusive admin commands from JA+, voting system, 2 admin levels fullAdmin or junior and a very long readme file listed HERE of what can be changed. From FFA, TFFA and CTF gamemodes there are lots of things to toggle to get the server with no force or with force how you want to run it. Better client smoothing when you have the client installed in the japro directory. Why should I even bother using jaPRO?Those who maybe looking for another option other than running JA+ or any other mod which is old and can be crashed, DoS attacked or exploited. How can I contribute to jaPRO to make this a better mod? There are forums setup at http://japro.tagmanpro.com/ you can post the requests and suggestions in the modding folder. Where can I get jaPRO client at?Right here at https://sites.google.com/site/japrojka/download. Where can I run the jaPRO server?Right here at https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7bcqyakrwuk829/japro3.zipExtract to your GameData folder - constantly being updated when a new version is out. ReviewLet me say I found this not easy at first there was many problems found like being stuck in players after pulling them in, medipaks and armor do not respawn in the original place when set to pull or push them. On the sabering side of things I had it set to MP damages and any base player would notice the difference than on a popular NF JA+ server like JAWA or EK. There is still alot of things to do and the lead coder loda is always open for new idea's to improve jaPRO. --Wookiee
Wookiee Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 I will do that now, its not easy to think when coffee runs out.
h643 Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Looks promising , but crashes with openjk(ded)
Wookiee Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 openjk(ded) is not needed at this time just a regular linuxjampded or jampDed.exe which is supplied that modifies the binary.
Shadzy Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Looks interesting, iof openjk doesn't crash it, can it be used alongside?? You mentioned wookie that its got fixes, am I assuming they are the ones openjk is working on resolving, but doing it through the mod rather than another launcher?
Raz0r Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 It modifies the engine at runtime to add those fixes, but that relies on the engine being Raven's jamp(Ded).exe
Shadzy Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks Raz0r so I got the answer I wanted. If you need any testers Wookie let me know
Carbon Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Very interesting. I hope these bugs are fixed soon, I would very much like to try this mod on Hv if it gets base dmgs!
ShakeThatSalt Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Is there possibility to make it so you can see your damage output in the console in addition to seeing the hit-points you're doing above the opponent you're attacking? Maybe something to pass down to Loda assuming he doesn't look at this thread. Other than that, I really enjoyed the saber aspect of the mod.
