Using colour in your text/name

Talon Senatu

In Jedi Academy, it's possible to easily change the color of any text your write. You can do this by typing ^ + the desired color code, followed by whatever you want to write. It will immediately change into that color while typing it.

Colors work like this:

^0This ^1Is ^2A ^3Very ^4Color^5ful ^6Text, ^7Mate

Which will show ingame as:

Quote

This Is A Very Colorful Text, Mate

You can not only do this for your name, but also for chat messages. The following color values are available:

^0   =   BLACK

^1   =   RED

^2   =   GREEN

^3   =   YELLOW

^4   =   BLUE

^5   =   CYAN

^6   =   MAGENTA

^7   =   WHITE

[OPENJK AND OTHER MODS ONLY]

^8   =   ORANGE

^9   =   GREY

Black can be odd to work with however. You need an additional ^ for black in names as long as you don't run OpenJK or similar mod that changes that. For example:

^^0Kyle = ^Kyle

The extra ^ is unavoidable in basejka.

8 and 9 are also available but do not provide any new colors in base JKA. It is recommended that you avoid using these two if you are on a pure vanilla or JA+ server. These have since been fixed in OpenJK. 8 is Orange and 9 is Grey.
