  1. I should probably mention, bearing in mind my other project, it's highly unlikely i'll come back to fix any issues with this one. I was just curious as to what people thought the problems were so i could address them in my other project. i'm curious as to whether you feel those problems still exist in the render i put on my portfolio (i'm aware of other issues in my portfolio version though, like the armour not matching the original):
  2. @@AshuraDX: I've been using zbrush since about 2.5 i think? quite a while! @@Omicron just do it
  3. here's a turntable of the highpoly head, hope you all like it. the expression is left deliberately blank so i can pose him easier later.
  4. so uh... get capable of it? nobody will do it for you, so push yourself to do it. do not be afraid to fail! if you try your best and it sucks, no problem, it'll be better the next time, and the time after that. every time you try you'll have achieved something. so keep trying. but don't use lack of ability as an excuse not to try.
  5. @@Circa, @@Major_Tom; i'm curious to know what you disliked so much? in what ways could i have done a better job?
  6. The biggest problem about this project is how rushed it all feels... You've rushed to call the mesh finished, you've rushed to get it into game the quickest way possible without using a more bespoke solution... rushing a project will just give you a sloppy ending, and leave you feeling you could have done a lot better.
  7. So, these are the only real images of Revan in his Jedi armour. Which leaves whatever he was wearing kind of ambiguous. It would make sense (in my mind) for him to have worn at the very least, similar armour, or a similar setup (greaves, vembraces etc.) to what he did as a sith lord, whether or not it's the same armour i can't really tell. So I'm not entirely sure whether to make two sets of armour or not, I suppose the jedi robe structure would change the way the armour looked enough to make it unique yet recognisable. thoughts?
  8. yeah i know it Ashura, it's not too bad. I have a couple of anatomy statues and a bunch of books. this was more of like... because each timelapse was only an hours work, everything was fairly rushed. that's not an excuse to me though... i feel like i should have better "instant" knowledge of anatomy for doing blockouts, rather than having to take time to do an in-depth sculpt each time. so that's what i'm going to work on soon. for now i'll have my hands full with this, as i need to do both a jedi, and sith version.
  9. calling the head sculpt done, need to make some hair and stuff, but i'll wait for the low poly to do that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Was3FIBbJDE
  10. He'll have his own set of fingers, sculpted the way i want them to be. but it will be easy enough to get them to match the JA bones closely enough that there shouldn't be many issues.
  11. Video from this session: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JZRkXLa8r4 next session will be sculpting the retopo'd mesh over the top.
  12. will be sculpting in about 30 mins or so: https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/72cpj4279a89klqkjn0g8975f4
  13. Haha, i love google+. a bunch of artists at polycount regularly (daily in fact) hang out together and make art. It's a good way to shrug off caveman syndrome if you're working home alone a lot.
  14. like in the first screenshot? that's fibremesh, i haven't really played with it all that much in honesty, i have more powerful tools in 3dsmax. but there are some amazing results coming out of it! check this out: http://yurialexander.com/charactersmain/fibermeshmaya-tutorial/
  15. @@Circa, @@minilogoguy18: yep, going for realism. there's an actor who's likeness i'm going for, It's going pretty well but there's room for improvement. hopefully i'll get there soon, but i need to get the body blocked in so i can retopo the whole thing. @@DT85: pretty much just move, claytubes, dam-standard, and smooth!
  16. hahaha that model was hilarious man. it was part of some crazy low poly challenge and i'd run out of triangles, so i made his fingers flat planes xD
  17. This is probably all for tonight, by the end of the second half i'm pretty happy with the likeness for the most part. still a couple of tweaks here or there to make. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vbRPXvaibI
  18. am sculpting again if anyone is interested. https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/7ecpjpenf3q3ds016jabvhcsi4
  19. Stopped sculpting for now, recorded as a timelapse in zbrush, will upload to youtube shortly.
  20. in about 20 minutes or so i'll be sculpting some more for an hour on google+ if you want to come along and watch/chat. i'll put the link here now, but i won't be actually sculpting for a little while. https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/7acpj66c69dgnb6qfralvc6kh0
