I don't get it. No game outside of racing, sports and fighting games is better with a gamepad, ESPECIALLY NOT games that involve you navigating through a 3d environment.

Depends on how the interaction in the game is designed to work, @Ping. I agree with you that it would make way more sense for a survival/shooter game to be mouse controlled, but, because of sales concerns, the developers pushed for a design that involves gamepads as primary controls for interaction. This means that everything in the game, from targeting challenges to movement, switches, etc. was designed to work with a gamepad.

Does that mean playing with a mouse makes the game too easy? Because design-wise, m+kb just allows for more precise, faster, more responsive input and has only advantages, none of the disadvantages, of a gamepad.
