How the hell do you open .dm_26 files outside of JKA? And how can you convert them to .mp4 or .avi?

Demos aren't video files though, they're literally records of what happened on the server. You can't play it in anything but JKA.

Circa has it right Imagine all of the data that you receive from the server. Now take that and shove it into a file. That's what the demo files are. Nothing more, nothing less.
