Dunno what happened exactly. Tried to use an old driver, PC crashed, rebooted and restored now it works. I couldn't select anything in a Softimage viewport without it crashing. Everything else worked though. Probably didn't help that I'm using such an old version but there is nothing I feel that is better that is freeware and I don't wanna resort to shady business if I don't have to.

Well, if it's crashing when trying to render 3D elements that would be an indication that the driver you're using doesn't support your card's 3D functionalities (only 2D). Make sure you test the 3D rendering in other software on your computer as well to be sure it's not Softimage itself that presents the problem when using the graphics driver -- which shouldn't be the case. I've found it's best to use a driver directly from the manufecturer's website.

It works now, not sure what happened. It also had no trouble rendering anything, I could open all my scene files just fine, just crashed when selecting them, it was an OpenGL problem as Win10 doesn't do OpenGL so well out of the box.
