  1. Yep, that sounds like the regular Disney production schedule. They've been doing this with their own movies for a long time, now. When Disney acquired Lucasfilm, I knew this would be coming. Star Wars will be a regular theme park, now. It will be more popular than ever, but I wonder at what cost...
  2. I'm not sure what you mean by adding a layer to the cylinder, but what I mean is you should simply update your texture image to have the text stretched to match the stretching ratio of the texture when applied to the cylinder. That way the text will appear normal on the cylinder. You should be able to just refresh/update the material used in Blender, not have to go through the adding/applying process again. This will make live tweaking the textures a lot easier.

When you modify the source code, you're just doing that. In order to apply the changes to your game, you will need to compile/build the source code into an executable (EXE/app). Follow these instructions to compile/build your customised source: https://github.com/JACoders/OpenJK/wiki/Compilation-guide When you are done compiling, you will find your built files in the "build" folder. You will need to copy/move these files to the appropriate location in your installed game directory. Most of them go into "GameData" (just above "base").
  4. It's simply that your text is in a realistic proportion, while the texture is stretched across the model. You have to count with the stretching and stretch your text to match the ratio, so that it looks normal size on the model, not on the texture image. This is something quite common you'll encounter with model texturing. I have just spent 4 hours fixing a clip on the boots of my model to match the rest of the layout of the texture on the model, and stay straight (though this was by far the most extreme case I've encountered)...
  5. @@IrocJeff, I just realised I left out an important one, part of the battle of Ryloth: Supply Lines (S03E03) It deals with the supply shortages I've mentioned earlier, and a battle against all odds from the uprising/rebel side.
  6. Do some test runs before you run the batch conversion. Make sure that your settings will work, first.
  7. No, to my knowledge the game engine is pretty fixed on a particular formatting for audio. I think you need to make sure it is sampled at 128 kbps as well, and that it is mono (for speech files). Otherwise it will simply drop them with an error. Edit: No.3 is a good question... I'm not sure... I haven't looked into it. Presumably the sound library is referenced in the "sounds.cfg" file, but that could be only relevant to MP... If it does affect SP, too, however, then all you would need to do is create a new sound directory where your sound file names are the same as the original, and point your model to use this new sound directory via the "sounds.cfg" text file.
  8. Well said. Spot-on. That's what I was trying to say, as well. These cinematics are most likely a rendered cutscene compilation from the game, using the game engine as a renderer. The actual gameplay visual experience will be different -- probably much closer to the previous Battlefront games.
  9. That's good news. I think this project is very valuable. Being set free from the SP game's customisation restraints is important. Both in weapons and items storage and in character model customisation.
  10. I'm not an expert on weapons... (@@AshuraDX?) ...but I think there are no bones for weapons, only tags. So all that you would need to define is where the weapon is held, and where it shoots from.
  11. OMG, what is that??? Is this a 3D cartoon or a feature film?
  12. NPC, like R2D2 and C-3PO. That way it can be spawned to follow you in the SP campaigns.
  13. Well, this one certainly has more drama in it. Although, the Episode 7 one is just a teaser for now, while this is a full trailer. While at first thought I don't like the idea of mixing The Clone Wars and Rebels, the way they seem to have done that here does make sense, as the times do overlap... The only one that seems really out-of-place for me here is Ahsoka, mostly because of her changed character traits, and her young voice and appearance. The rest of the cast seems good to me. I look forward to watching Season One of Rebels now, from start to finish. I think I will just make-pretend that this Ahsoka is an android clone of the real Ahsoka. It'll give me peace.
  14. For textures, I have a tip. Just using Google Images, you can search for hi-res textures of real-life materials. Then you need to prep them for use in Photoshop or GIMP. I am going to assume you're using Photoshop here, but I'm sure GIMP can do the same -- just the procedure may be different: 1. Open the texture image in Photoshop. 2. Desaturate the image. (Image > Adjustments > Desaturate) 3. Reduce brightness and increase contrast, until the black and white balance in the image is presenting only the texture's surface well. (Image > Adjustments > Brightness and Contrast) 4. Now select the whole image (Select > All). 5. With the image selected, choose the Edit > Define Pattern option. 6. Give the new pattern you've created a name. Now to use your new texture you will need to create a filled area (with the colour of your choice) on a new layer, then right-click on the layer in the Layers dialog (side menu) and choose Blending Options. Turn on Pattern Overlay, and set the Blend Mode to Luminosity. Now drag the Opacity and Scale sliders until you achieve the desired textured look.
  15. Is Ahsoka now a major character in this series, too, or what's going on? I thought Rebels had its own original story... I guess I'll have to watch it sometime to really understand...

  17. Kudos for an open-minded tackle on Blender! That's looking really neat, @@IrocJeff -- like a weapon that really does belong to the Star Wars universe. Simple and effective.
  18. Wow, that is one kickass trailer! At first, when I saw screenshots of this, I thought it was snippets from the movie... Obviously these are in-game, real-time rendered cutscenes, but the graphics are really advanced now, and approaching movie realism. Very-very impressive! (Of course that means that I would have to get a PS4, and I'm not ready to replace my Xbox 360 just yet...)
  19. No, it will be enjoyable, you can count on that. But go in expecting to see a new movie set in a new era of Star Wars. Not the old trilogy. There will be references to the old trilogy for sure, but that's all they will be -- vague references. The new story will take a shape of its own. I think I do see how this will work. Hopefully they get the relationships to feel right. The lasting effect of the movie is dependant on it.
  20. And, guys, I'm a big Ahsoka fan, but if Ahsoka Tano makes an appearance in this movie, I am going to kill myself. Edit: Edit: Edit: Warning: could be a major spoiler!!
  21. Oh good. Then I guess this assessment of the new trailer is correct. That makes perfect sense, both production-quality-wise, and release time-wise (audience-wise). I think I will be walking into the cinema expecting to see an entirely new story, set in a new chapter of Star Wars -- not a continuation of episode 6/3.
  22. The new stormtrooper design looks silly/cartoony for a movie to me, but these new advanced trooper helmets look quite interesting! It makes sense that the story of this movie would be something only remotely connected to the original trilogy, and the leaks you've mentioned here, @@NumberWan, do sound like a wise way to go storytelling a new chapter in the movie series -- without disappointing the fans.
  23. Yes, I think that makes perfect sense. Telling a new story, with new characters, in a new era. This tie-in trailer confuses that concept a bit. I'm not sure how tactfully the movie will deal with this, if it does indeed attempt to resurrect old themes the way this trailer portrays it. But if the situation will be similar to how the Superman sequel was managed, then there will be very little that ties this movie to the original trilogy. However, that also means that this movie would feel a little more like the prequels, as well. It will introduce new ideas, and expand on the world of Star Wars. Edit: The thing is, the director and storytellers of this movie can't have both: it is either a direct sequel, or it is an entirely new story. I think if you merge the two, you will end up with a big mess that just doesn't feel completely right, any way you look at it.
  24. Note: If you want to bask in the glow of the new trailer, don't read this. Just enjoy the feeling. This thread looks at it with a more critical eye. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngElkyQ6Rhs Hmm... Somehow this all seems too familiar... Let's see, where have I seen it before? Maybe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6DJcgm3wNY Ring-a-ding? (Old inspirational text and themes re-used to invoke a strong nostalgic feeling?) If that's anything to go by, then this teaser trailer doesn't say much about the movie's contents at all. It's a good trailer. It inspires, it raises hair, but it doesn't say much about the nature of the movie itself. But perhaps with so much criticism and scrutiny this is exactly what a new Star Wars movie needs; a little unbiased old-school vibe.
