  1. It seems these days every yuppie gets to make his own Star Wars film. Just because it's called Star Wars, doesn't mean it is Star Wars. Star Wars needs to be felt -- and that's one of the hardest things to pull off right -- something that apparently Disney seems completely clueless about.

      I really like the world that Star Wars creates and how it still manages to tell relatable stories within that crazy world. I really liked Rogue One's commentary on Rebellion and the contrast between Cassian and Jyn. I think aesthetic, Episode 7 and R1 fit right in to Star Wars, better than the prequels even.

      I guess your criteria is difficult since this clearly made the director "feel" the SW universe. What exactly do you mean? I'll admit R1 didn't create strong attachments to its characters but it was a very likable ensemble of interesting characters I'd love to read a book on sometime.
