It seems to me that Blender and 3DS Max are very similar in UI design. Perhaps Blender got its inspiration from one of the founding fathers of all 3D modeling software? Silo is a completely different user experience.
I don't feel Blender and Max are similar. I like Max better than Maya's million count menus, but one of the biggest advantages I see in Blender is the fact that it doesn't need many menus and buttons all around. It's all in the keys, or even the spacebar insta-search.
Yeah I guess it just comes down to if you're a menu guy or a hotkey guy. Myself, I'm a menu guy. I tend to forget hotkeys, so it's handy to know I can find something easily in a menu.
