  1. It is a standalone server browser that just runs off an exe that brings up all servers hosting wad based games. Doom, Doom II, Hexen, etc. You can not only download server files through the browser, and having it path to dropping said files into your base folder. But it can also show servers for all wad games linked to the browser. Built in IRC and what not. Dark Forces 2 even had it's own as well. I'm talking about setting up something like doomseeker but for both JA and JO. One that doesn't cost money to be used and can show all servers in game despite mods used, game played, and game mode people are currently in. No fancy dedicated hosted trackers or anything. It just pools all the servers currently up in both JO and JA and shows them all. Some screenshots of what doomseeker looks like for all the wad games. Can link to out of game folders to download maps and skins and what not this way also so why use the in game auto downloader? Get the files installed game launches with said files. Old wad games they use pak files also and how they got it setup, the only files that load are those the server uses. Don't have that file confliction issue like you do in JO and JA if you pack your base/gamedata folder full of models and maps. Would solve shadering and tons of other headaches but that would also mean servers would have to specificly host everything for it to show up in game.
  2. An out of game server browser like what doom wad games have had for years now would be a worthly endevor. Path to game exes and see all game servers for JO/JA out of game would be nice. Here's a link to doomseeker. Can see what I'm talking about. http://doomseeker.drdteam.org/ Got both server lists showing up in one out of game browser. Example of how it works(how old wad games worked): If it's a JO server, it loads the JO exe. If it's JA, loads the JA exe. Also doomseeker has it's own pather for downloading server files, so like the old wad games, servers could have files downloaded and drop themselves into a persons base folder. After you have all the server files the game would then launch and load up. Centralizing both games down to a single browser list would get lot of active players and people more on the same page, anyone from either game can make use and see all servers in list as well as actively see what servers have the most people, etc. Perhaps built in feature to vist guild/forum sites. Maybe even a built in irc or chat system in which people can talk out of game on a single application rather then needing a billion messengers installed just to drop messages to people in game or even fellow guild members people hang out with. Check doomseeker out, might give you some ideas or see what I'm refering to. tl;dr A simple .exe that loads up an out of game browser (doesn't need to be installed). Both JA/JO players can make use of it.

  4. Thanks for the answers Psyk0, appreciate it. Keep up the good work!
  5. I am curious of this project and I have some questions if someone would be kind enough to answer them, or answer them when this is a lot more complete and released to the population. I wagered years ago a kotor 2 style animation of flaps would be more likely to come out before cloth physics. Process intensive wise also it wouldn't be as heavy on a machine either as compared to physics since it's just animations tied to those extra meshes/etc. If possible a sticky with basic notes on all this information can probably be answered once this is complete to save on having to answer repeat questions. Working on my own little personal projects and this just gives me incentive to get back into JK which I'm sure it just might for some other people. Keep up the good work as well, good to see some fresh creativity and interest into things lot of people been waiting on coming to fruition. Might put up a model package of some 100+ of some models like these I'm digging into for a prefab model pack if this project comes to fruition. Little back scratching sure, but the players benefit the most from these open ended projects. Namaste and good day.
